Ari Fleischer Offers Midterm Election Analysis by the Numbers The Gateway Pundit

Former White House spokesman Ari Fleischer posted his take on the 2018 midterm election earlier today.

Ari offers some excellent analysis.

1-2.) Trumps senate additions were unusual.

3.) Results put Trump in drivers seat.

4.) Turnout was HUGE!

5.) White voters continue to flee the party that hates them.

Here are the ones still in the running, in order of how much they had put in by last month.

FIREWORKS! Chris Wallace Attacks Laura Ingraham After She Praises Trump for Adding Senate Seats (VIDEO) The Gateway Pundit

What happened to FOX News?
Viewers were outraged last night when they called the House for Democrats while polls were still open on the West Coast.

And their panel last night was loaded with a group of Trump critics with the exception of Laura Ingraham.

At one point in their election coverage Laura Ingraham praised President Trump for adding Republican members to the Senate.

Chris Wallace did not like this.
He immediately attacked Ingraham.

Transcript via Alternet :

This is one thing we do know, if the Republicans were not able to take the seats that they took tonight there would be a cavalcade of criticism on Donald Trump, Ingraham said. They would say, Its Trumps fault, look he went to all these cities and he couldnt turn the vote. I believe if Donald Trump hadnt done that massive rally in Texas last week I dont know if Ted Cruz would have won.

The party is coming home to Trump. The party is unified, Ingraham insisted. That doesnt mean they agree with everything he tweets or they like every position on immigration. Im not saying that. I think most of the party realize if they are not aligned behind the basic principles of this conservative populist approach with Trumpnot his tone necessarily, but his policiesyoure not going anywhere. By contrast, the Democrats are going home to more of an [Alexandria] Ocasio-Cortez party which I think in 2020 thats going to be a tough sell.

I dont think thats fair to say about the Democrats, Wallace replied. Thats a complete mischaracterization.

Laura, if you look at the Democrats who are winning across Wallace began.

Theyre liberal, Ingraham shot back.

Its not because they went far left, its because they have women with intelligence or military credentials and theres this character out there, Wallace explained. Lets wait and see what the margin is and what their policies are and if youre going to give the Republicans credit for holding on to the Senate, then I think you have to give Democrats credit for actually flipping the House.

Even after two years of amazing success these eliti...

Breaking: Jim Jordan Announces Bid for House Minority Leader The Gateway Pundit

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) announced his intent to run for House Minority Leader on Wednesday.

Jordan, a staunch Trump supporter and member of the Freedom Caucus, will be a fighter for conservatives and polulist positions in the House.

The Hill reported:

Conservative Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) announced his bid for House minority leader on Wednesday, challenging Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) hours after Democrats regained control of the lower chamber.

I plan to run for minority leader, Jordan told Hill.TVs Buck Sexton on Rising.

In 2016, the American people elected Republicans to come here and change this town. I think the president is doing just that, but I dont think they see the same intensity from folks in Congress, folks in the House of Representatives, he continued.

Have we replaced ObamaCare yet? Have we secured the border yet? Have we reformed welfare yet? No, he said.

Jordan went on to slam current GOP leadership in the House, saying they were not willing to engage in debate with Democrats.

Now that were in the minority, thats about all what we can do is debate, but fight hard in the debate for the principles, for the things that we know the American people sent us here to do in 2016. Show them that we deserve to be back in power in 2020, he said.

Jordans comments come hours after he won his re-election bid in Ohios 4th congressional district against Democrat Janet Garrett.

Fossil Fuel Industry Defeats Multiple Environmental MeasuresAnd Other Key Ballot Initiative Results Shadowproof

Fossil fuel industry interests spent millions on campaigns to defeat measures that would have advanced policies to fight climate change and protect the environment. They largely prevailed.

In the state of Washington, a tax on fossil fuels and electricity to reduce greenhouse emissions was rejected by 56 percent of voters. It wouldve raised at least $1 billion to fund clean energy projects.

More than $31 million was spent by major oil corporations to defeat Initiative 1631 in Washington, which the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported was a record for initiative spending. BP America spent over $11.5 million to defeat the initiative, Valero spent nearly $1 million, and Koch Industries spent nearly $1 million to mobilize opposition to the measure.

Chevron spent at least a half million dollars, with the support of former Washington Attorney General Rob McKenna whose private firm represents the oil corporation.

Building trades and refinery workers came together with big energy corporations to fight the measure, even though it had the support of the Washington State Labor Council, which helped draft the initiative.

Colorado voters rejected Proposition 112, which would have required new oil and gas developments, especially fracking wells, to be 2,500 feet or more from homes, schools, hospitals, and vulnerable areas, such as playgrounds, permanent sports fields, amphitheaters, public parks, public open space, public and community drinking water sources, irrigation canals, reservoirs, lakes, rivers, perennial or intermittent streams, and creeks.

Several Democrats, including Democratic Representative Jared Polis, who was elected governor, opposed the environmental measure, viewing it as too extreme. Governor John Hickenlooper fomented panic, suggesting days before the election that he would consider calling a special session of the legislature if it passed.

You want to minimize the unintended collateral damage, Hickenlooper said. This is a big part of states economy. Youre talking 15 percent, some people say as much as 20 percent, of the states economy. And suddenly it goes to half? That is how you spell recession.

However, voters in Colorado rejected Amendment 74, a fossil fuel industry-supported measure to neutralize Proposition 112. It said property owners must be compensated if state laws or regulations result in a reduction in property value and would have been a way to frighten state officials into still approving fossil fuel projects.

Florida voters approved a ballot measure to ban offshore drilling. Oddly, it was in...

President Donald Trump Must Fire Failed AG Jeff Sessions Today The Gateway Pundit

President Trump has repeatedly expressed his frustration in picking Jeff Sessions to be his Attorney General.  The more you look into Sessions recusal the more you know why!

When candidate Donald Trump first began his run for President, no Washington insiders would stand up and support him until a little known Senator from Alabama, Jeff Sessions, did.  The story line was that Sessions was strong on borders and he liked candidate Trumps stance on illegal immigration and building a wall.

Sessions routinely spoke at Trump rallies and after the 2016 Presidential election, President Trump nominated Sessions to be his AG.  It is rumored that the only position Sessions would take on the Trump team was AG and he seemed a good fit after being a US Attorney, the AG in Alabama and a US Senator for years.

However, after this, things really went wrong off the charts actually.  Sessions was appointed and approved by the Senate and then almost immediately Sessions recused himself from everything related to the 2016 Presidential campaign.

On Thursday, March 2, 2017 the Department of Justice announced AG Sessions recusal:

During the course of the confirmation proceedings on my nomination to be Attorney General, I advised the Senate Judiciary Committee that [i]f a specific matter arose where I believed my impartiality might reasonably be questioned, I would consult with Department ethics officials regarding the most appropriate way to proceed.

During the course of the last several weeks, I have met with the relevant senior career Department officials to discuss whether I should recuse myself from any matters arising from the campaigns for President of the United States.

Having concluded those meetings today, I have decided to recuse myself from any existing or future investigations of any matters related in any way to the campaigns for President of the United States.

But based on what we currently know, Sessions never should have recused himself.  Gregg Jarrett from FOX News explains:

The Remarkable Participation and Efficiency of Brazils Elections Proves How Shameful, and Deliberate, Is the Chaos and Suppression in the U.S. The Intercept

The systemic, nationwide voting problems plaguing Tuesday nights midterm elections in the United States appear all the more disgraceful and deliberate when compared to the two remarkably efficient national elections that were conducted in Brazil just last month.

That a country poorer than the U.S., with a much shorter history of democracy, can hold such seamless, fair, participatory, and efficient elections proves that the opposite outcome in the U.S.  massive voter disenfranchisement, multi-hour voting lines, pervasive machine malfunctions, and elections that are not decided until weeks after the fact  are very easily avoided and thus likely intentional.

Brazils national elections are comparable in size to the U.S.s. Although Brazils population is slightly less than the that of the U.S. which is the worlds third-most populous country at roughly 325 million, while Brazil is in fifth place with roughly 210 million Brazil has mandatory voting, a lower voting age (16), and automatic voter registration for citizens, which means vote totals are comparable. In Brazils October 28 run-off presidential election, roughly 110 million votes were cast, in the same range of last nights U.S. vote total.

Yet Brazils elections are plagued by virtually none of the problems that mar the credibility of U.S. elections year after year. On October 7, Brazil held the first round of its presidential elections, which, like in the U.S. midterms, also included electing an entirely new lower house of federal Congress and a portion of the federal Senate, as well as governorships and state house races in all 26 Brazilian states and the federal district.

Like all Brazilian elections, the October 7 national vote was held on Sunday, the day the fewest number of people have to work, ensuring maximum voter participation. Polling closed at 5 p.m. All of the votes were fully counted, and all the results fully known, by 8:30 p.m. that night. There were no lingering unknown outcomes, weeks...

Voter Suppression? FOX News Viewers Outraged After Channel Calls House for Democrats 90 Minutes Before Polls Closed on West Coast The Gateway Pundit

Last night FOX News Channel dropped a bomb on their conservative audience and called the House for Democrats while polls were still open on the West Coast.

In fact California voters still had another 90 minutes to vote before the polls closed.

FOX viewers were furious.

Only about half of the seats were called at the time.

Some Good News The Morning After DownWithTyranny!

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez beat Joe Crowley again last night

The NY Times defines what happened as a wave. It didn't feel like a wave to me last night-- not with Beto, @IronStache, Andrew Gillum and Stacey Abrams losing-- not to mention all those Senate races. But the Democrats did take back the House-- pretty substantially, and appear to have defeated Putin's favorite congressman, Dana Rohrabacher. The Senate is very bad news. Although Jacky Rosen beat Dean Heller in Nevada, Kyrsten Sinema appears to have lost to Martha McSally in Arizona. Marsha Blackburn defeated Phil Bredesen in Tennessee and, tragically, Beto O'Rourke lost to Ted Cruz in Texas. Democrats also lost Senate seats in Missouri (Claire McCaskill), Florida (Bill Nelson) and Indiana (Joe Donnelly) and Jon Tester may have lost in Montana; still too close to call-- with 83.4% of precincts counted, Matt Rosedale is leading narrowly-- 48.9% to 48.2%. Sorry... this was meant to be a good news post.

TED MALLOCH Midterm Recap: Half a Hallelujah The Gateway Pundit

Guest post by Ted Malloch author of The Plot to Destroy Trump

There is a word to express our emotion and feelings after the divided and divisive victory of 2018.

Half a Hallelujah. Only half but Ill take it.

It means praise and thanks to God.

In ancient Hebrew ( ), the people sang songs of praise to the Lord. Hallel was a reference to someone who acts joyfully in a boast to God. The second part, Yah is from YHWH, the very name of our Creator.

In 1741 Handel composed The Messiah and its hallelujah chorus was a most resounding success. The text came from the Bibles book of Revelation 11:15
And he shall reign forever and ever.

Listen to it here and be inspired:

Today, while Trump cannot reign forever, and he most certainly is not the messiah, we witness a resounding win in the 2018 US Senate election and a less than complete set back in the US House, where the Democrats now takeover control.

Note, almost every state where Trump personally campaigned, his candidates won.

The Republicans take an additional four Senate seats and flip seats that were Democrat in key places from Florida to Missouri to Montana to North Dakota. It is a real cushion for Trump and guarantees his nominees will be confirmed and his judicial appointments will easily sail through.

Senator McConnell is a happy warrior with more leverage now than before.

The House of Representatives is however another story.
This was not the predicted Blue tsunami, nor even a wave. It was more like a ripple.

The Dems picked up what looks like about 28 seats and will control the speakership and committees, doubtless making life more difficult for Trump and his Administration.

This means divided government and gridlock, not more.

Indeed, it could even move us toward some possible bipartisan policies around infrastructure, immigration and health care.

Wait and see.

Lets see how the Dems turn. Do they want to be constructive or only continue to resist and obstruct?

Another interesting thing to watch will be if this more radical and feminized group of Democra...

DEMOCRATS WON AND EVERYONE SHOULD SAY THAT No More Mister Nice Blog

This:

Yesterday Democrats lost a number of races they wanted to win, especially in the Senate. They lost two Southern governor's races they hoped would go their way. But they'll have a solid margin in the House, and they took back seven governorships. Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin, the three states that gave Donald Trump his Electoral College victory in 2016, will all have Democratic governors now, and Democratic Senate incumbents easily won reelection in all three states.

And Democratic ideas are popular. Three red states -- Utah, Nebraska, and Idaho -- voted for Medicaid expansion. Proposals to end partisan gerrymandering passed in Colorado, Michigan, and Missouri, while a similar measure leads in Utah. And restration of voting rights for felons won overwhelmingly in Florida.

Scott Walker is gone. Kris Kobach is gone. Dana Rohrabacher appears to be gone.

Bigotry may have won in the Florida governor's race, and may be winning in Duncan Hunter's race against Ammar Campa-Najjar, but it was rebuffed elsewhere. Antonio Delgado, who was attacked for his youthful career in rap, defeated John Fa...

President Trumps Congressional Losses in First Midterm Cant Compare to Obamas Record Breaking 63 in 2010 The Gateway Pundit

The 2018 midterm election was no Blue Wave It was a push.

It was a sad night for House Republicans on Tuesday.
The GOP lost their majority in the House and as many as 34 seats to the Pelosi Democrats.

But Republicans picked up 4 (and likely 5 with Montana) new seats in the US Senate with wins in Florida, Missouri, Indiana and North Dakota.
Arizona, Montana are still being decided.

Dean Heller was the only GOP loss in the Nevada senate race.

Republicans also elected governors in Massachusetts, Maryland, Vermont and New Hampshire along with Georgia, Florida and Iowa.

So President Trump gained seats in the US Senate and lost around 30 seats in the US House.

In 2010 the Republican Party gained 63 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives, recapturing the majority, and making it the largest seat change since 1948 and the largest for any midterm election since the 1938 midterm elections

CNS News posted this chart of historic midterm election losses for sitting presidents.

The Virgin of Quito bensozia

00:18

Still Divided in America bensozia

The split election result seems to me to perfectly illustrate our national condition. Democrats won the House by taking suburban districts where many people, especially women, find Trump appalling; Republicans expanded their advantage in the Senate by winning big in rural areas and across the South. Many races were decided by one or two percent; 49.6 to 48.4 for governor of Wisconsin, 50.7 to 49.3 for the hotly disputed House seat in Charleston, SC.

We are closely divided. We are also charged up about it; preliminary counts show that 114 million people voted, up from 83 million in 2014.

Considering that the economy is booming like it hasn't since 1999, this is an impressive win for the Democrats. But it may actually be the best possible result for Republicans other than Trump himself. Holding the Senate means they can continue to appoint conservative judges. Losing the House means they cannot advance any legislative agenda, but really with their tax cuts in place they had no agenda to advance, so that hardly matters. Trump can "triangulate" like Bill Clinton, claiming credit for successes while blaming Democrats in the House for anything that goes wrong. The only danger for Republicans in this scenario is that, unable to pass liberal bills, House Democrats will throw their energy into investigating the many scandals of Trump and his people, and that something really bad will turn up.

The election provided more examples of people who vote for Republican candidates but for Democratic issues. For example, big increases in the minimum wage passed in Missouri and Arkansas. Even more interesting to me is that despite a hard Trumpian turn in Florida the electorate rescinded the state's lifetime ban on felons voting; can anybody explain that one?

And once again we see that in America extremism is a dangerous game. The Democrats won the governorship in Kansas, the homeland of "what's the matter with Kansas?", not because the people are any more liberal but because the Republicans simply pushed conservatism too far.

My forecast: many more years of ugly division and partisan struggle.

Larry Hogan's Re-Election and the American Electorate bensozia

Among the least surprising results in yesterday's election was the easy re-election of Maryland's governor Larry Hogan. Hogan is a Republican in a very Blue state, and he faced a credible opponent in NAACP president Ben Jealous, but he got 56.2% and that was closer than a lot of people expected.

I think this says something important about American politics. Voting for president seems to get people passionate about abstract issues like "Change" or "Make America Great Again" and especially about our personal visions for the nation. It often seems that what the government actually does plays little part.

You may recall that a few years ago Vermont Democrats did try to enact a Medicare for all plan but there was a rebellion over the proposed tax increases which experts said were still enough to really fund it the plan was abandoned, and although Vermont went very strongly for Hillary in 2016 they also elected a Republican governor who ran mostly on his opposition to the health care plan and taxes in general.

Despite what Bernie and his allies keep saying, I see no evidence that there really is support in America for Social Democracy. What the majority even in Vermont and Maryland seems to want is as little change as possible.

Will the Dems Make Big State Legislative Gains? Booman Tribune

In the 2010 midterm elections, the Democrats lost a net of 702 state legislative seats across the country. That tied 1958, when President Dwight D. Eisenhowers Republican Party lost the same amount in a midterm election during an economic recession. The only examples of a larger slaughter in modern history came in 1938 when Franklin Roosevelt suffered the worst political loss of his career (769 seats), in 1966 when Lyndon B. Johnson received a strong rebuke (782 seats), in 1922 when Warren Hardings unpopular tax cuts and labor policies cost him (907 seats), and in 1932 when Herbert Hoover was swept out of office amid the Great Depression (1,022 seats). The Democrats hope to add to this list when all the votes are counted on Tuesday.

Here in southeastern Pennsylvania, there is plenty of hope that well contribute to the Democrats national numbers. The process began a year ago, and I wrote about it after looking at the off-year 2017 election results.

Here in the Philly suburbs, the realignment definitely came, and it came with historic force. Nowhere was that clearer than in Chester and Delaware Counties. In Chester County, the Democrats won races for four so-called row office positions, with a general massacre of Republican officeholders throughout the county that extended even to magisterial district judges. For perspective, since Chester County was incorporated in the 18th century, no Democrat had ever been elected to any of the nine row office positions.

In Delaware County, the Democrats won two county Council seats and took all three of the row offices that were on the ballot. Amazingly, this is the first time in history that any Democrat has won a competitive countywide election there.

These results for the local GOP are equivalent to what happened to the Democratic Party in the South over the last couple of decades.

The latest polls for governor and...

The Republicans Have Broken the Senate Booman Tribune

The fact that the White House and president have pursued a Senate-preserving political strategy at the expense of the House of Representatives has been a mainstay of my analysis over the last few months, and it is now common wisdom even among many Republicans.

Two days out from an expected Democratic takeover of the House, Republicans focused on the chamber are profoundly worried that Trumps obsession with all things immigration will exacerbate their losses

Many of them have cringed at Trumps threats to unilaterally end birthright citizenship, as well as his recent racially-tinged ad suggesting that immigrants are police killers. The presidents drumbeat, they say, is drowning out news any incumbent president would be negligent not to dwell on: that the economy added a quarter-million jobs last quarter, and unemployment is below 4 percent.

Trump has hijacked the election, said one senior House Republican aide of Trumps focus on immigration. This is not what we expected the final weeks of the election to focus on.

Indeed, some House Republicans say privately that they feel abandoned, as if Trump has given up on them the likely losers in order to focus on the Senate.

Nakedly racist political messaging works in some places (hopefully, not as well as the White House hopes) and it is political radioactive in other places. Republican senators are hopeful that it will help them maintain their slim majority.

The disagreement highlights the tug-of-war over strategy thats been dogging the GOP all year: Should Republicans prioritize turning out Trump backers, or appeal to suburban swing voters? The party has diverged according to the chamber: Senate Republicans seeking to grow their majorities in rural, red states by toppling incumbent Democrats have mostly welcomed Trumps red-meat approach; House Republicans whose survival hinges on the suburbs have privately griped and tried to change the subject.

I believe that the cynical use of racial demagoguery belongs in the populist category of political campaign strategies, as its basically an appeal to baser emotions like fear, resentment and hatred rather than anything that might distinguish human beings from lizards. For this reason, I find it particularly depressing to see it being used by senators. A look at James Madisons rationale for the Senate in the Federalist Papers should demonstrate why I feel this way.

The most important, historic, and consequential midterm election of our lives is over. It wasnt quite a blue wave, but the Democrats, while unable to win the Senate, did, as predicted, take back control of the House for the first time since 2010. That means that your health care, if you have some, is a little safer, climate change might finally get some attention from lawmakers, and wait for it Donald Trump might finally be held to some account. We might not get impeachment, but we will get investigations, hearings, and maybe a tax return or two. If this midterm election, which was far from free and fair, teaches us anything, its that the Democrats, now in charge of the House, have to make democratic reform a political and legislative priority. We need to pass a new voting rights bill, end gerrymandering, lower the voting age, make Election Day a public holiday or move it to a weekend, and get statehood for D.C. and Puerto Rico. Mehdi Hasan is joined by Rep. Barbara Lee, MSNBC host Chris Hayes, and Womens March co-chair Tamika Mallory to digest the election results and discuss voter suppression and where the democrats go from here.

Midnight Meme Of The Day! DownWithTyranny!

by Noah
Everyone is entitled to his own opinion but not his own facts.-Former Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan (D-NY)
You can click on the above "Tom Tomorrow" cartoon to enlarge it for easier reading. It goes a long way in explaining how we even got to the state of lunacy we've been in, not just in this most recent election cycle, but for quite some time.

The media isn't solely to blame for the sick status of current political discourse, of course. That would take a book to explain, and I don't mean the kinds of school textbooks that are overseen by rightwing Christian loons and other crackpot republican subsets. But the media's insistence that all sides and all opinions are equally valid and that "Alternative Facts" should be treated with respect and not be seriously challenged has amounted to way, way too many news programs being, at best, half fact and half Tokyo Rose, with goon platoons of wingnuts that tell the gullible, all too willing to believe anything public that the Earth is 6000 years old and that a "caravan" of small pox-bearing brown people is headed our way; never mind the fact that small pox was eradicated decades ago and, at most, only exists in germ warfare labs, not in the bloodstreams of Central Americans. FOX "News," in particular might as well just move their whole operation back in time to 1942 Japan, but that doesn't let the other news outlets off the bloody hook. The others, also run by fascist-favoring corporations who are addicted to the advertising dollars of Big Pharma, Big Oil, and car companies, eagerly broadcast Herr Trump's perverse "fireside chats" into America's homes every night of the 2016 campaign, slyly giving Trump $2 Billion in free advertising and promotion. It will only get worse as propaganda outlets such as Sinclair, Smart News (aka Bot News) continue to expand.

Trump Makes History By Adding Seats to GOP Senate Majority in His First Midterm Election The Gateway Pundit

Trump campaigned in Florida this past weekend.
Republican Ron DeSantis won the governorship and Rick Scott won his senate race!

Thanks to President Trump Republicans picked up 4 new Senate seats on Tuesday with wins in Florida, Missouri, Indiana and North Dakata.
Arizona, Montana and Nevada were still being decided.
By the end of the night President Trump will gain at least one senate seat and as many as five new GOP senators.

This is historic.
And President Trump was eager to tell the nation of his success tonight.

The President quoted Ben Stein tonight: Theres only been 5 times in the last 105 years that an incumbent President has won seats in the Senate in the off year election. Mr. Trump has magic about him. This guy has magic coming out of his ears. He is an astonishing vote getter & campaigner. The Republicans are unbelievably lucky to have him and Im just awed at how well theyve done. Its all the Trump magic Trump is the magic man. Incredible, hes got the entire media against him, attacking him every day, and he pulls out these enormous wins.

Republican Steve King Wins in Iowa Despite Liberal Media Smears and Never-Trump Onslaught The Gateway Pundit

Rep. Steve King was reelected in Iowas 4th Congressional District.

This was despite the horrific media smears that King is a Nazi and white supremacist.

These were the worst smears and unfortunately the Republican elites piled on.

KWWL reported:

King has been featured on KWWL on the Steele report. This is the ninth time he has been elected to congress. The district is in the northwestern part of the state and includes Sioux City. King is a member of the Republican Party and has served in Congress since 2003.

Congressman King, often a lighting rod for criticism with statements some view as controversial, has served the last 16 years. He grew up in a law enforcement family in Storm Lake, Iowa. He attended Denison Community High School, where he met Marilyn Kelly, whom he married in 1972. They have lived in Kiron since 1976 and are members of St. Martins Church in Odebolt. Steve and Marilyn have three grown sons and eight grandchildren.

Now, What Actually DID Happen In Florida? DownWithTyranny!

Donna! Donna! Donna!

Democratic performance was up... but not by enough. There was a little good news. In Miami-Dade, two red seats flipped blue, although both are fairly strong blue districts. FL-27, where Ileana Ros Lehtinen retired, has a PVI of D+5. Hillary beat Trump there by TWENTY points-- 58.5% to 38.9%, so you wouldn't think it would take a wave. A very weak Democrat, Donna Shalala, beat a fairy strong Republican, Maria Salazar 127,144 (51.7%) to 112,638 (45.8%). Next door, Carlos Curbelo tried distancing himself from Trump and fought a tough battle against Democrat Debbie Mucarsel-Powell but the district is too blue (D+6) for a Republican in a year like this with such a xenophobic, anti-Hispanic "president." Hillary beat Trump there 56.8% to 40.5%. Mucarsel-Powell beat Curbelo 116,626 (50.7%) to 113,326 (49.3%). As of the Oct 17 FEC reporting deadline Shalala had outraged Salazar $3,402,023 to $1,542,470. The DCCC kicked in $1,031,865 and Pelosi's PAC put in another $636,302. The NRCC put in $1,493,272 and Ryan's PAC threw in $273,123. All in all each candidate had about $2 million in negative ads thrown against them.

FL-26 was more fiercely contested. Curbelo raised $4,751,998 to Mucarsel-Powell's $3,746,206. The DCCC spent $4,566,411 and Pelosi's PAC put in another $2,608,655. The NRCC spent $2,725,738 and Ryan spent $2,893,997.

The other Florida races where the DCCC had hoped to make headway were all flops, primarily because they had weak candidates... and a weak wave. In the 6th district (DeSantis' seat) Michael Waltz took every county and beat Nancy Soderberg (New Dem) 187,322 (56.3%) to 145,137 (43.7%). PVI is R+7 and Hillary had lost to...

America Goes to War LewRockwell

Some believe that the Cold War ended in 1991, when the Soviet Union fell apart. In retrospect, many observers also believe that a golden opportunity was missed to heal the wounds inflicted by over 45 years to hostility between the Washington and Moscow. Rather than encouraging development of a Russia that would adhere to Western European norms for elections, transparency and individual liberties, some in Europe and America instead sought to steal the countrys natural resources and other assets, a process that went on for some years under President Boris Yeltsin. The looting went hand-in-hand with particularly inept political moves on the part of President Bill Clinton, who ignored end of Cold War agreements to not use the break-up of the Soviet Union as an excuse to bring its former member states in Eastern Europe into NATO or any other military alliance hostile to Russia. The process of NATO expansion continues to this day, together with military maneuvers and the placement of new missile systems right along the Russian border, increasing Moscows justifiable paranoia about its security.

The military moves have been accompanied by a political deep freeze, particularly ironic as President Donald Trump during his campaign for office pledged to improve relations with Russia. They are now at their lowest ebb since the hottest days of the Cold War, including as they do the totally bogus sanctioning of Russian government officials under the maliciously conceived Magnitsky Act and the ongoing saga of Russiagate, which blames Moscow for interference in Americas 2016 election, so far without any real evidence being provided.

For those who think all of this is theater, think again. Some critics are beginning to recognize that the United States has become a country addicted to war and one need look no farther than the federal budget, where everything is being cut except military spending, which is set to increase even though there is no country or group of countries in the world that genuinely threaten the U.S.

Two recent stories in particular demonstrate just how far Washington has gone towards accepting that war has more-or-less become a natural condition for the United States of America. The first is an article After years of fighting insurgencies, the Army pivots to training for a major war that has largely been ignored, regarding how the U.S. military is changing its doctrine and training to enable it to fight a major war against a powerful national opponent. Previously, the armed forces were emphasizing countering non-government hostile agents like al-Qaeda and ISIS, the so-called counter-insurgency doctrine or COIN. According to Pentagon spokesmen, the shift is in recognition of the fact that...

The Sociopaths in Politics LewRockwell

There are at least seven characteristics that define a sociopath, although Im sure the list could be extended:

  1. Sociopaths completely lack a conscience or any capacity for real regret about hurting people. Although they pretend the opposite.
  2. Sociopaths put their own desires and wants on a totally different level from those of other people. Their wants are incommensurate. They truly believe their ends justify their means. Although they pretend the opposite.
  3. Sociopaths consider themselves superior to everyone else, because they arent burdened by the emotions and ethics others have theyre above all that. Theyre arrogant. Although they pretend the opposite.
  4. Sociopaths never accept the slightest responsibility for anything that goes wrong, even though theyre responsible for almost everything that goes wrong. Youll never hear a sincere apology from them.
  5. Sociopaths have a lopsided notion of property rights. Whats theirs is theirs, and whats yours is theirs too. They therefore defend currency inflation and taxation as good things.
  6. Sociopaths usually pick the wrong target to attack. If they lose their wallet, they kick the dog. If 16 Saudis fly planes into buildings, they attack Afghanistan.
  7. Sociopaths traffic in disturbing news, they love to pass on destructive rumors, and theyll falsify information to damage others.

Theyre chronic, extremely convincing, and even enthusiastic liars, who often believe their own lies. That means they arent easy to spot, because normal people naturally assume another person is telling the truth. They rarely have handlebar mustaches or chortle like Snidely Whiplash. Instead, they cultivate a social veneer or a mask of sanity that diverts suspicion. You can rely on them to be politically correct in public. How could a congressman or senator who avidly supports charities possibly be a bad guy? How could someone who claims he just wants the U.S. to defend some foreign minority possibly be a warmonger? Theyre expert at using facades to disguise reality, and they feel no guilt about it.

Political elites are primarily, and sometimes exclusively, composed of sociopaths. Its not just that they arent normal human beings. Theyre barely even human, a separate subspecies, differentiated by their psychological qualities. A normal human can mate with them spiritually and psychologically about as fruitfully as a modern human could mate physically with a Neanderthal; it can be done, but the results will be problematical.

Its a serious problem when a society becomes highly politicized, as is now the case in the U.S. and Europe. In normal times, a sociopath stays under the radar. Perhaps hell commit a common crime when he thinks he can get away with it, but social mores keep him reined in. However, once the government changes its emphasis from protecting citizens from force to initiating force with laws and taxes, those socia...

JEFF DEIST: Tom, you grew up in Boston. Your dad was a blue collar guy and also a Teamster. So, tell us a little bit about him and your childhood.

TOM WOODS: He was a Teamster for 18 years, and worked as a forklift operator in a food warehouse for a grocery chain that no longer exists.  I wouldnt say he was a Reagan Democrat because he was never a Democrat. He was a blue-collar Reagan Republican. That was the kind of household I grew up in. My father had very strong political opinions.

At that time he had not finished high school. He was very self-conscious about not having a high school diploma, so he spent a lot of time reading about a wide variety of topics. You could talk to him about a great many things and he would have something intelligent to say. He wound up going back to get his GED when he was in his 40s.

On politics, he was the one who introduced me to the evils of communism and the merits of low taxes and things like that. It was fairly conventional Republican stuff, but for all that, if it hadnt been for him telling me those things, I could easily see myself having fallen into conventional leftism. And why not? If you have poor people, why not give them money, and if you have some problem, why not appoint regulators to solve it? It all seems so simple. He challenged that narrative in ways that were very productive for me.

JD: Isnt that interesting how America used to have blue-collar-working-class guys who were well read in poetry or history or philosophy? Now, even people with advanced degrees dont know as much.

TW: It is kind of funny. I took a bit of that from him in that when I went off to school I was planning to be a math major, but I wanted to know many other things, so I took a wide variety of courses. That was actually what ended up getting me out of studying math. I noticed that all the other math students did nothing but math even in their spare time they read books on number theory. I didnt think I could compete with people like that. So I decided maybe history, which is what I was doing in my spare time anyway, perhaps ought to be my main concentration.

The Unending Bush Torture Scandal LewRockwell

The vast regime of torture created by the Bush administration after the 9/11 attacks continues to haunt America. The political class and most of the media have never dealt honestly with the profound constitutional corruption that such practices inflicted. Instead, torture enablers are permitted to pirouette as heroic figures on the flimsiest evidence.

Former FBI chief James Comey is the latest beneficiary of the medias no fault scoring on the torture scandal. In his media interviews for his new memoir, A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership, Comey is portraying himself as a Boy Scout who sought only to do good things. But his record is far more damning than most Americans realize.

Comey continues to use memos from his earlier government gigs to whitewash all of the abuses he sanctified. Here I stand; I can do no other, Comey told George W. Bush in 2004 when Bush pressured Comey, who was then Deputy Attorney General, to approve an unlawful anti-terrorist policy. Comey was quoting a line supposedly uttered by Martin Luther in 1521, when he told Emperor Charles V and an assembly of Church officials that he would not recant his sweeping criticisms of the Catholic Church.

The American Civil Liberties Union, Human Rights Watch, and other organizations did excellent reports prior to Comeys becoming FBI chief that laid out his role in the torture scandal. Such hard facts, however, have long since vanished from the media radar screen. MSNBC host Chris Matthews recently declared, James Comey made his bones by standing up against torture. He was a made man before Trump came along. Washington Post columnist Fareed Zakaria, in a column declaring that Americans should be deeply grateful to lawyers such as Comey, declared, The Bush administration wanted to claim that its enhanced interrogation techniques were lawful. Comey believed they were not. So Comey pushed back as much as he could.

Martin Luther risked death to fight against what he considered the scandalous religious practices of his time. Comey, a top Bush administration policymaker, found a safer way to oppose the worldwide secret U.S. torture regime widely considered a heresy against American values: he approved brutal practices and then wrote some memos and emails fretting about the optics.

Losing sleep

Comey became deputy attorney general in late 2003 and had oversight of the legal justification used to authorize key Bush programs in the war on terror, as a Bloomberg News analysis noted. At that time, the Bush White House was pushing the Justice Department to again sign off on an array of extreme practices that had begun shortly after the 9/11 attacks. A 2002 Justice Department memo had leaked out that declared that the federal Anti-Torture Act would be unconstitutional if it impermissibly encroached on the Presidents constitutional power to conduct a military campaign. The same Justice Department polic...

The Untouchable US-Saudi Relationship LewRockwell

In the last few weeks, numerous articles and analyses have been produced relating to the murder of Jamal Khashoggi in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul. However, the relationship between Saudi Arabia and the United States has not been questioned, and the reason for this has not yet been explained.

Nixons decision in 1971 to withdraw the United States from the gold standard greatly influenced the future direction of humanity. The US dollar rose in importance from the mid-1950s to become the world reserve currency as a result of the need for countries to use the dollar in trade. One of the most consumed commodities in the world is oil, and as is well known, the price is set by OPEC in US dollars, with this organization being strongly influenced by Saudi Arabia.

It is therefore towards Riyadh that we must look in order to understand the workings of the petrodollar. After the dollar was withdrawn from the gold standard, Washington made an arrangement with Riyadh to price oil solely in dollars. In return, the Saudis received protection and were granted a free hand in the region. This decision forced the rest of the world to hold a high amount of US dollars in their currency reserves, requiring the purchase of US treasuries. The relationship between the US dollar and oil breathed new life to this currency, placing it at the centre of the global financial and economic system. This privileged role enjoyed by the dollar allowed the United States to finance its economy through the simple process of printing its fiat currency, relying on its credibility and supported by the petrodollar that required other countries to store reserves of US treasuries in their basket of currencies.

This arrangement continued to sustain itself in spite of num...

The Auto-Stop-Start Systems LewRockwell

I wish I could take credit for this one, but I cant. However, I will shamelessly use it and credit the reader (Jim H) who made the analogy:

Auto-stop/start systems which have become de facto standard equipment in almost all new cars are the automotive equivalent of the low-flush toilet.

You may recall.

The government decided that people were using too much water in the bathroom. The solution was a fatwa outlawing toilets as they had been and requiring that new toilets be designed to use less water (1.6 gallons, about half the volume of water used in the old, wasteful toilets).

Everyone knows what the result was.

It now took two or more flushes to get the same job done which ended up using twice the water.

Sometimes the job didnt get done at all.

Eventually, the problems caused by the low-flow toilets were fixed by modifying the toilet to operate at higher pressure, so as to make more effective use of less water. These toilets, of course, cost more than the old water waster toilets, now outlawed.

Instead, people waste money.

Now comes Auto-stop/start.

Its the same bad idea as the low-flow toilet, applied to cars. Use less gas by using the engine less by automatically shutting it off whenever the vehicle comes to a complete stop. When the driver takes his foot off the brake indicating his desire to get moving again a high-torque starter motor is automatically engaged to re-start the engine and off you go until the next stop, when the cycle repeats.

In theory in government testing it does save a little gas. On the order of 1 mile-per-gallon vs. an otherwise identical vehicle without the system.

But it costs a lot more money.

The system requires the already mentioned high-torque starter motor (and solenoid) which must be made tougher and more durable than a regular starter motor which is only expected to start the vehicle once  prior to starting your trip not numerous times (often, a dozen or more times) in the course of your trip.

No car company installs additional hardware (and software, the electronics necessary to operate the system) in a vehicle for free.  Instead of paying ExxonMobil an extra couple of bucks each month, you pay the company that built your car with the Auto-stop/start system more than a couple of extra bucks when you buy it.

And then you pay Exide or Interstate whom youll end up buying a new battery from to replace your prematurely croaked one.

A not-mentioned problem (one of them) with Auto-stop/start is that with one very recent exception, bear with the system relies on a system never meant to deal with the much-multiplied workload.

The 12V battery was designed to start the engine . . . once. Not over and over and over and over again, every day.

A Badge of Shame LewRockwell

For soldiers serving in Afghanistan and Iraq, coming home is more lethal than being in combat. Bren Brown, research professor at the University of Houston

Not all heroes wear the uniform of war.

In the United States, however, we take particular pride in recognizing as heroes those who have served in the military.

Yet while we honor our veterans with holidays, parades, discounts at retail stores and restaurants, and endless political rhetoric about their sacrifice and bravery, we do a pitiful job of respecting their freedoms and caring for their needs once out of uniform.

Despite the fact that the U.S. boasts more than 20 million veterans who have served in World War II through the present day, the plight of veterans today is Americas badge of shame, with large numbers of veterans impoverished, unemployed, traumatized mentally and physically, struggling with depression, suicide, and marital stress, homeless, subjected to sub-par treatment at clinics and hospitals, and left to molder while their paperwork piles up within Veterans Administration offices.

Still, the governments efforts to wage war on veterans, especially those who speak out against government wrongdoing, is downright appalling.

Consider: we raise our young people on a steady diet of militarism and war, sell them on the idea that defending freedom abroad by serving in the military is their patriotic duty, then when they return home, bruised and battle-scarred and committed to defending their freedoms at home, we often treat them like criminals merely for having served in the military.

The government even has a name for its war on Americas veterans: Operation Vigilant Eagle.

As first reported by the Wall Street Journal, this Department of Homeland Security (DHS) program tracks military veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan and characterizes them as extremists and potential domestic terrorist threats because they may be disgruntl...

Researcher Jailed LewRockwell

If you have been following stories in recent years of scientists and researchers who make discoveries that are threatening to the Deep State and the bottom line of Big Pharma, you will have seen the pattern before. Those doctors are often persuaded to recant their studies, offered bribes or other benefits to distance themselves from or even destroy their data, and even threatened with jail time or, if a legal case is too difficult to fabricate against them, they may simply be killed.

Such is the tale of molecular biologist Judy A. Mikovits, PhD, in the disturbing true story first detailed in this Natural News article that included the video below of how she was thrown in prison for research that led to the discovery that deadly retroviruses have been transmitted to twenty-five million Americans through human vaccines.

Isolating The Virus

With a well-established history of working for the National Cancer Institute as a cancer researcher, Dr. Mikovits worked with human retroviruses like HIV. Her work focused on immunotherapy research. In 2009, she was working on autism and related neurological diseases. She found that many of the study subjects had cancer, motor-neuron disorders and chronic fatigue Syndrome (CFS). She believed a virus may have been responsible for these symptoms, and through her research, she isolated the viruses that turned out to come from mice.

It looked like a virus, it smelled like a virus, a retrovirus, because those are the types of viruses that disrupt the immune system. And several other investigators back in the 90s had actually isolated retroviruses from these people but the government called them contaminants, that they werent real and that they didnt have anything to do with the disease. Well, we isolated a new family of viruses that were called xenotropic murine leukemia virus-related virus. So these viruses were murine leukemia viruses, mouse viruses.

So spin forward two years, our paper published in one of the best scientific journals in the world in Science, October 8th, 2009. Usually that makes ones career, in my case it ended my life as a scientist as I knew it.

Virus Delivered Through Vaccines

Dr. Mikovits paper, in and of itself, did not immediately bring the wrath of the powerful pharmaceutical industry. However, when a paper published 2 years later made the connection between this new virus and vaccines, then Mikovits research findings became too dangerous for the Deep State. Here is how Mikovits explains it in the video:

Some Breakfast Foods Contain More Glyphosate LewRockwell

Concerns over the health effects of glyphosate the active ingredient in Roundup and other weed killer formulations continue to rise as evidence of harm and widespread exposure keeps accumulating.

In recent years, researchers have discovered it may affect your bodys ability to produce fully functioning proteins, inhibit the shikimate pathway (found in gut bacteria) and interfere with the function of cytochrome P450 enzymes (required for activation of vitamin D and the creation of nitric oxide and cholesterol sulfate).

Glyphosate also chelates important minerals; disrupts sulfate synthesis and transport; interferes with the synthesis of aromatic amino acids and methionine, resulting in folate and neurotransmitter shortages; disrupts your microbiome by acting as an antibiotic; impairs methylation pathways; and inhibits pituitary release of thyroid stimulating hormone, which can lead to hypothyroidism.1,2

Roundup has also been linked to certain cancers.3 In March 2015, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) classified glyphosate as a probable carcinogen (Class 2A),4 based on limited evidence showing the weed killer can cause Non-Hodgkin lymphoma and lung cancer in humans.

Since then, thousands of individuals have filed suit against Monsanto, blaming Roundup for their Non-Hodgkin lymphoma.5 The first case to go to jury trial resulted in a stunning guilty verdict, and Monsanto was ordered to pay the plaintiff, Dewayne Johnson, $289 million in damages.6

According to the ruling, Monsanto acted with malice or oppression and was responsible for negligent failure by not warning consumers about the carcinogenicity of its product. A judge recently upheld the guilty verdict, but reduced the damages to $78 million.7,8,9 Bayer, which now owns Monsanto, is also facing several class action lawsuits over crop damage caused by dicamba.10

Another Round of Food Testing Raise...

Its Time LewRockwell

A few months ago, the Verge leaked a training video from Google. The video, obviously not intended for public distribution, described the data produced by a girl on her cell phone all snatched up by Google without her awareness.

That data, according to the video, describes our actions, decisions, preferences, movement, and relationships. Google uses the analogy of a ledger, with the data siphoned off the web by the internet giant being a constantly evolving representation of who we are.

The ledger, of course, is you. And the video made it clear that Google believes you do not own the data about you, but that you are merely a transient carrier of it.  Whats more, Google suggests that over time, it could provide more inputs to the ledger with the goal of modifying your behavior.

One example of more inputs is Googles purchase of the marketing network DoubleClick in 2007. At the time, Google founder Sergey Brin said privacy would be our number one priority when we contemplate new kinds of advertising products. But a decade later, Google changed its terms of service to state that your browsing habits may be combined with other data to which Google has access. This includes the contents of your Gmail messages, records of your Google Maps searches, your Google calendar appointments, and anything else it can scrape from your browsing records.

This data is also available for hackers to help themselves to or the government. Indeed, Google just dropped its Google+ social networking app after hackers stole data on 500,000 of its users. Google also helps governments conduct mass surveillance through data collection. In just the first six months of 2018, Google received nearly 60,000 disclosure requests from government authorities.

This is the company, dont forget, with a corporate slogan of dont be evil. Give me a break!

Fortunately, if you want to disconnect completely from Google, alternatives are available. And even if you want to continue using Googles search engine and Google Maps, you can protect yourself from the company using that data to build your ledger.

The first step is to stop using any of Googles splendidly designed, but privacy-invading apps, especially Gmail and Google Calendar. There are numerous alternatives to Gmail; my favorite is Swiss-based Protonmail. It provides end-to-end encryption for all messages delivered on its network and doesnt share the content of your messages with anyone. Because of the way Protonmail is designed, the company cant deliver your messages in an unencrypted form even if it receives a court order to do so.

Likewise, many alternatives exist for Google Calendar. One that offers many of the same features is...

An Ethiopian Ethnomedicine Found LewRockwell

Scientists have established that the bracted bugleweed (Ajuga remota) is able to significantly reduce blood sugar levels, supporting its traditional use as a treatment for diabetes. The study, published in BMC Complementary and Alternative Medicineanalyzed the phytochemical composition of the herb and examined its anti-diabetes ability in vivo.

The bracted bugleweed is a plant common in East Africa, but it also grows widely in the Middle East as well as East Asia. In Ethiopian traditional medicine, the plant is used to treat conditions ranging from toothaches and stomach pain to high blood pressure and even diabetes. The leaves are known to be especially bitter; thus, honey is added to make it easier to consume and to store it for later use. Multiple studies have been done on other species of the genus Ajuga, with researchers noting its anti-inflammatory, anti-depressant, antiviral, and anti-malarial properties, to name a few. For some studies, in particular, scientists have linked certain health benefits to the presence of bioactive components in the plant. An initial study of the bracted bugleweed revealed that it has similar phytochemicals with other species in the genus, but there is little evidence of its anti-diabetes potential available.

The aim of this study was to find out the scientific basis of the use [of] A. remota in the management of diabetes used by traditional practitioners, the researchers wrote in their report.

For the study, researchers obtained extracts from powdered dry leaves of the bracted bugleweed. The team used two extracts: One with 70 percent ethanol; and an aqueous extract. Both extracts were subjected to an acute toxicity test and were analyzed for their phytochemical components. The extracts were also used in a murine model for diabetes. To mimic the condition, the mice were inoculated with alloxan, a chemical which destroys insulin-producing B cells in rat pancreas. The team took note of any changes in body weight during the period, with blood samples drawn every seven days to measure blood sugar levels. During this time, mice were treated with either an aqueous or ethanol extract or with glibenclamide, a common medication for regulating glucose levels in people with Type 2 diabetes. After two weeks of treatment, the mice treated with bugleweed extracts were made to fast, and their fasting blood glucose levels were monitored.

Researchers found that extracts of the bracted bugleweed were not toxic, indicating its potential to be used...

TX Gov. Greg Abbott Responds to OKeefe Undercover Video Showing Non-Citizens Voting, This Will be Investigated The Gateway Pundit

Texas Governor Greg Abbott

Project Veritas dropped an undercover video earlier Tuesday showing election officials admitting tons of non-citizens are voting in Texas.

OKeefes undercover video caught the attention of Texas Governor Gregg Abbott. This will be investigated, Abbott said of the non-citizens being encouraged to vote by election officials.

In the video, a Project Veritas undercover journalist asked a Texas election official if her DREAMer boyfriend can vote as long as he is registered to vote and has a drivers license.

Yeah okay the election official responded.

If he has his ID thats all he needs. If hes registered, the election official said of a potential DACA voter.

Right. It doesnt matter that hes not a citizen? the PV journalist asked, adding, I saw some mess on the internet that its not legal for him to vote because

No. Dont pay any attention to that. Bring him up here, the Texas election official said.

When the Project Veritas journalist pressed the election official about her DREAMer boyfriend and asked if there is an issue with DACA people voting, the election official responded, No, you tell him no, we got a lot of em.

Texas Governor Abbott said not only will he be launching an investigation into the elections officials, the illegal votes will be tossed out and lawbreakers will be prosecuted.

Gov. Abbott tweeted out The Gateway Pundit article on OKeefes sting and said: I cant verify if this is accurate. I CAN verify that it will be investigated and if it IS accurate, illegal votes will be tossed out and wrongdoers will be prosecuted.

Jack Posobiec: The GOP Needs To Invest in Ground Game Election Night Coverage (VIDEO) The Gateway Pundit

In an interview Tuesday night with the Gateway Pundit, conservative pundit Jack Posobiec argued that the GOP would effectively win the midterm elections if the they restructured their ground game.

Despite being impassioned by President Trump, Posobiec argued, a large  portion of Trump supporters arent engaged.

The middle of the ground voter that person that came out for Trump in 2016, there not someone that checked into politics all the time, he said. They are someone that Donald Trump was able to reach out to because he speaks to a different constituency in America than any other politician does.

That first time voter in 2016, the are probably checked out of politics right now, that knows Trump was elected, that votes in presidential elections but doesnt really pay attention to midterms. Trump himself just actually just said yesterday that who ever heard of a midterm election. Its something in mainstream sense, wasnt that big until he got into the political arena.

Mike Braun Takes Joe Donnelly Down In Indiana, Republicans Leading In Florida, Michigan, North Dakota The Gateway Pundit

The Indiana Senate race has now been called for Republican Mike Braun, who has taken down incumbent democrat Joe Donnelly, who got in by the scales of his skin in 2012 based off of an abortion flap by the Republican candidate.

Meanwhile, Jim James is leading Debbie Stabenow in Michigan, Florida governor and now Senate candidate Rick Scott leads incumbent democrat Bill Nelson with 93% reporting. Democrat incumbent in North Dakota, Heidi Heitkamp, is losing bigly to challenger Kevin Cramer.

Stabenow was expected to cruise comfortably to re-election, but it looks like the blue wave is crashing.

BREAKING: GILLUM CONCEDES FLORIDA GOVERNOR RACE TO DESANTIS; Scott Holds Slim Lead Over Nelson The Gateway Pundit

BREAKING: Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum has conceded to Ron DeSantis. At 11 p.m. EST Gillum told supporters gathered for a campaign watch party in Tallahassee, We didnt win. Gillum said he had called DeSantis to congratulate him.

The Florida governor race is trending to Republican candidate Ron DeSantis as results reach 99 percent of votes counted at 10:40 p.m. EST. DeSantis has maintained a steady slim lead over Democrat Andrew Gillum for the past two hours.

DeSantis resigned from Congress after winning the GOP primary a few months back, Gillum is the mayor of Tallahassee. Gillum became a progressive rising star with backing by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) while DeSantis was backed by President Donald Trump.

Henry Olsen, whose Twitter bio reads, Senior Fellow, Ethics and Public Policy Center and Editor of Flyover Country at . Author, The Working Class Republican, called the race for DeSantis at 9 p.m. EST:

Im calling Florida Governor for DeSantis. The latest Broward dump means there should be less than 100,000 votes total left and DeSantis lead should withstand that surge. It, too, will be very close, 50,000 votes either way.

Chuck Todd on NBC noted Gillum underperformed Hillary Clinton by 4 points in Miami-Dade County, speculating that the characterization of Gillum as a socialist turned off voters.

Todd also expressed surprise that Gillum was underperforming Bill Nelson, the incumbent Democrat Senator who was also trailing in Tuesdays election to Republican Gov. Rick Scottbut not by as much.

Todd noted that it looked DeSantis win would be outside the margin of 0.5% for an automatic recount, but that Scott might have to go through a recount.

With 99 percent of the vote in at 10:40 p.m. EST, DeSantis led Gillum by about 91,000 votes, 4,007,243 to 3,926,640.

Scott had a lead of about 60,000 over Nelson, 4,031,033 to 3,971,373.

James Carville: No Wave Election for Democrats The Gateway Pundit

Former Bill Clinton campaign guru and Democratic Party strategist James Carville said on MSNBC as results were coming in Tuesday night he does not see a wave election happening for the Democrats in the mid-term elections.

Carville expressed hope, but not confidence, the Democrats could take the House tonight, Hopefully the Democrats get the House back.  He also lamented that he was a little more optimistic about Florida than its turned out to be. I think we have to put a nailbiter in a lot of places here tonight.

Democrats Have Moved Significantly to the Left Since 2010, New Study Shows The Intercept

Democratic candidates across the board ran on significantly more progressive platforms this election cycle as compared to the last three election cycles, according to a new analysis of candidates for the U.S. House and Senate by the group Data for Progress.

The percentage of Democratic candidates who endorsed Medicare for All, Sen. Bernie Sanderss signature health care proposal, or a Medicare buy-in surged from 27 percent in 2010 to 58 percent this election cycle.

House Democrats early on decided to pitch health care throughout the campaign season, and after years on the fringe, Sanderss proposal erupted into popularity on the campaign trail, even in deep-red states like Kansas and Iowa. Even gubernatorial candidates in states like Georgia, Wisconsin, and Florida focused heavily on Medicaid expansion.

The changes tracked by Data for Progress, with support from MoveOn, come from a field of Democratic candidates who are one of the most diverse groups to run in U.S. political history. The 115th Congress is poised to include a number of historic firsts, including the first two Muslim women in the House: Minnesotas Ilhan Omar and Michigans Rashida Tlaib. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortezs primary victory over 10-term incumbent Rep. Joe Crowley in a New York Democratic primary is typically held as the most representative example of the partys burgeoning progressive shift. At 28 years old, she will likely be the youngest woman elected to Congress, and one of at least two members of the Democratic Socialists of America to be elected this year (Tlaib is the second). On the state level, legislative chambers are expected to turn blue and comprise majority women for the first time. Both congressional and state-level seats are projected to be younger, more racially diverse, and more likely to be LGBTQ.

Just months after 17 people were killed during a Parkland, Florida, school shooting, the field of Democratic candidates reflects a leftward shift in gun control stances, Data for Progress found. In 2010, 36 percent of Democratic candidates had received an A rating from the National Rifle Association, compared to 19 percent that had an F rating. This year, 22 percent of Democratic candidates had an A rating, while 52 percent had an F rating.

At the heart of the most significant change in the Democratic Party is the dramatic rise of small-dollar donations, which has powered a new wave of progressive activism and given candidates a fundraising edge in the midterm elections. Reliance on individual small donors, as opposed to corporate PAC money, has...

Other Than The Blow Voters Are Delivering Trump Today, Will We Defeat Any Of The Worst, Most Vile GOP? DownWithTyranny!

You know who I'm thinking about, not the run-of-the-mill Republican garbage who "just" want to take away peoples' healthcare and see them starving in the streets; I'm mean the real neo-Nazi's inside the pup tent. Many of them are in blood red districts that are infested with brain-washed Fox zombies, like, for example, Matt Gaetz in Florida. But there are a handful up for reelection today who could go down, as long a shot as each case is. The defeat of Chris Collins (NY-27) and Steve King (IA-04) would be immense wins for political decency. So would an abrupt end to the political career of Devin Nunes (CA-22).

No one likes being lumped into the same category as Steve King, but there is another Republican incumbent-- a substance abuser currently out on bail and kicked off his committee by Paul Ryan as a national security risk-- who has earned the company: suburban and exurban San Diego County's Druncan Hunter (CA-50). And there are still hours and hours of voting left in California. Yesterday The Atlantic allowed McKay Coppins to lay the whole ugly Trump Era mess out: Duncan...

Landlord Shuts Down AZ Polling Station in Maricopa County Over Foreclosure The Gateway Pundit

More from Arizona

A landlord shut down an Arizona polling station today over a foreclosure dispute with the tennents.

Breitbart.com reported:

A landlord has shut down a polling station in Arizonas Maricopa County on Monday evening over a foreclosure dispute, according to state officials.

In a video shared to Facebook, Maricopa County Recorder Adrian Fontes detailed the dispute leading to the station being closed on the eve of the midterm election.

Last night, apparently the landlord locked the door because the facility we were renting from is in foreclosure, which we perfectly unaware of, said Fontes. Were printing new ballots for the voters and were also looking at other alternatives. Were already in communication with the sheriffs department.

We may just go in and forcibly enter so that we can get all our equipment and serve those voters, he added. CBS News shared a photo of the landlords lien notice taped on the front door of a Chandler building, where Gila Precinct residents were lined up to cast their vote.

This news follows the news earlier that voters were being turned away at a Republican district in Maricopa County.

SO WAS ALL THAT YAMMERING ABOUT THE CARAVAN FOR NOTHING? No More Mister Nice Blog

Because I remember late-afternoon exit polls telling us in 2004 that John Kerry had the race won, I don't want to put too much stake in what we're hearing today before the polls have closed. However, this is striking:

A big majority of voters, about two-thirds, made their 2018 election decision before the last month, according to preliminary exit poll results. Only one-in-five said they decided in the last month and even fewer said they made up their minds in the last few days or last week.
So all that agitation about the caravan -- was it for nothing? Was Trump's endless series of campaign rallies meaningless? The Kavanaugh hearings ended about a month ago -- did they even matter?

It's not clear how the few people who decided in the last month voted. It's not clear how many people weren't sure they wanted to vote at all and then decided in the last month. If Republican voters are disproportionately represented in the latter two categories, then maybe all the noise made by Republicans paid off.

But if not, it's possible that the press treated Kavanaugh and the caravan and "Democrat mob" talk as game-changers when they didn't mean much of anything at all.

Here Are the Key Moments from Election Night 2018 The Intercept

As the polls closed across the United States on Tuesday starting in parts of Kentucky and Indiana, at 6 p.m. ET, and concluding in Alaska seven hours later The Intercept followed the vote count and brought readers updates on key races for control of the House, the Senate and governors mansions in a number of states.

Pelosi Claims Democratic Victory in the House, Republicans Keep the Senate

Following a string of Democratic wins in House districts won by Hillary Clinton in 2016, and some unexpected gains in other areas, President Donald Trump called Rep. Nancy Pelosi to congratulate her on the Democrats taking control of the House, according to her deputy chief of staff, Drew Hammill.

When Pelosi spoke, she claimed her partys victory would be about restoring the Constitutions checks and balances and stopping the GOP and Mitch McConnells assault on Medicare, Medicaid, the Affordable Care Act and the healthcare of 130 million Americans living with preexisting medical conditions.

Lets hear it more, she added awkwardly, for pre-existing medical conditions!

There was a more uplifting message for progressives from Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez at her victory party.

Oregon Polling Station Tells Voters to Drop Off Their Ballots in Book Drop The Library will Open at Noon! (VIDEO) The Gateway Pundit

Voter Drop Box No ID required!

From reader Pam

I just (proudly) went out to vote at my local Multnomah County library. The library is on 79th and Holgate.

IT WAS CLOSED. Opened at NOON!

As this is my local polling place I was very upset to see a sign on the wall that said:

The library is closed. Please put your ballots in the book drop

Well at least they posted a tweet.

Lines of people were dropping their ballots into the slot (along with their books) after being momentarily stymied. All but me dropped off their ballots anyways. I just could not get over the fact that this just did not seem right to me at all

I would be curious to find out whether this is legal. I have seen how torn up books can be after dumping them into the return and can only wonder what the heck kind of mess was behind that slot. I question who is picking up the mess made and are they certified voting personnel. I did not feel comfortable voting in this manner, Multnomah County or not!

I came home to dash off this note and I am going out to find a decent place to vote.

AM I CONCERNED? No More Mister Nice Blog

On the morning of Election Day two years ago, I wrote a post called "I'm Concerned." I was worried about weak Democratic numbers in early voting, and about a few troubling polls. I pointed out that the Real Clear Politics "no tossups" map, in which every state with a tight race was credited to whichever presidential candidate had even a slight lead, showed Hillary Clinton with barely enough electoral votes to win -- 272. And I took seriously Nate Silver's warning that a slight error in the polling could lead to a Donald Trump win in the Electoral College, even though there wasn't much likelihood that he could win the popular vote.

Am I concerned this year? Not as much. I think it's still possible that Democrats won't take the House. However, their odds are better than Clinton's were two years ago, as Nate Silver wrote last night:

An 86 percent chance might seem like a sure thing, but it isnt would you board a plane that had a 14 percent chance of crashing?

But an 86 percent chance (or around 6 in 7) which is the chance that Democrats have of winning the House, give or take a bit in the various versions of the FiveThirtyEight forecast model is nonetheless a pretty good chance.

... An 86 percent chance is closer to Barack Obamas odds of winning in 2012 than Hillary Clintons in 2016.
Larry Sabato believes that Democrats will win "34 seats in the House, 11 more than the 23 they need." The Cook Political Report says that "a gain of 30 to 40 seats - and House control - is the most likely outcome." The Wason Center for Public Policy anticipates a 45-seat Democratic pickup. Real Clear Politics has the least optimistic scenario for Democrats -- gains of 8 to 46 seats, with the average being 27 seats.

(If I'm pessimistic this year, it takes the form of believing that Democrats will win the House but underperform -- maybe they'll gain only a few more seats than they need, as RCP predicts. If that happens, they need to act as if they won a blowout, the way Republicans did after they lost the p...

Video: Trump Supporting Immigrant Uber Drivers Job Threatened by Two Crazed White Democrat Women Over Election Day Argument The Gateway Pundit

Life in the Smartphone Era: Every perceived slight will be blown up into a national crisis with the accused being shamed and fired by liberals.

Todays example: A Trump supporting immigrant Uber driver who says he is an American citizen argued politics with two liberal women on Tuesday as he drove them to the campaign office of Democrat Congressional candidate Harley Rouda who is running against incumbent Rep. Dana Rohbacher (R) in Californias 48th Congressional District. The women, Tara Strong and Rena Sofer, both in the Hollywood entertainment industry, were going to help out Rouda by making election day get out the vote phone bank calls.

The Dems are up to their old tricks!

Antonio Sabato Jr., GOP Congressional candidate for district 26 in California sounded the alarm Monday and said his voters ballots were being rejected for unmatched signatures.

Mr. Sabato called this antic a dirty Dem deed and said we will not be silenced.

The Dems are desperate to win the midterms and they will do anything to take back power.

Prognosticators Have Never Learned How To Rate Races In A Wave Election-- And Pollsters Can't Get Their Models Straight DownWithTyranny!

Polls are all based on "likely voters." A campaign manager I was talking to last week was in a rush because he was still dragging homeless people onto buses to feed them sandwiches, etc and get them to the early voting stations. Over a thousand. Likely voters? Not a chance. Early voting shows "unexpected" upturns for women voters, black voters, Latino voters and millennials voters. How many extra seats is that worth to the Democrats beyond what the pollsters and prognosticators predicted? 10? 20? 30?

Last week Time Magazine warned them: Youth Voter Turnout in the Midterm Elections Could Be Historic, According to a New Poll. "Young voters could turn out to vote at record-breaking levels in the midterm elections next month, according to a new poll. The poll, released Monday by the Institute of Politics at Harvards Kennedy School of Government, found 40% of 18 to 29-year-olds say they will 'definitely vote' in the midterm elections on Nov. 6. Youth voter turnout has historically been dismal in midterm elections, which tend to draw fewer voters overall than presidential election years. The highest rate of youth voter turnout in past midterm elections was 21% in both 1986 and 1994, according to the Harvard report... In the 2014 midterm elections, 19.9% of adults under 30 voted-- 'the lowest rate of youth turnout recorded in the past 40 years.' In the 2016 presidential election, 46.1% of adults under 30 voted-- an increase from 2012, but still the lowest turnout rate of any age group."
In this years poll, a larger percentage of young Democrats (54%) than young Republicans (43%) indicated they were likely to vote.. Overall, 66% of respondents supported Democrats taking back control of Congress, compared to 32% for Republican control.
So how's that working out today? We don't know yet, but what we do know is that millennials turned out big in early voting. Yesterday, the Washington Post reported that early votin...

YouTube is Trying to Ban My Channel Matt Forney

Last Friday, I wrote about how YouTube issued a Community Guidelines strike against my account, barring me from live streaming for the next three months. The strike was for an episode of my now-defunct podcast Matt Forney After Hours that was over a year old. I appealed the strike, and YouTube rejected my appeal yesterday.

This morning, I got three emails from YouTube over the course of seven hours telling me, successively:

With two strikes on my account, not only am I banned from live streaming, Im not even allowed to upload YouTube videos for two weeks. A third strike will result in my channel being terminated outright.

Its clear that YouTube has targeted my channel for destruction. I am currently in the process of backing up my videos on BitChute, but this will take some time. For the moment, I urge all of you to follow my Twitch channel, where I am currently streaming. You can follow me on Twitch here. Back episodes of Matt Forney Live will also continue to be posted on my SoundCloud page here.

How Companies Pressure Workers to Vote for Corporate Interests Over Their Own The Intercept

Voters are largely free to ignore the wave of television and direct mail ads aimed in their direction every election cycle. But what if the person trying to influence your vote is your boss?

Business groups are increasingly using the workplace as a staging ground to shape the outcomes of elections.

Last month, supervisors at the Phoenix corporate headquarters of the truck rental business U-Haul were told to bring their respective teams to an internal company town hall to hear from Steve Ferrara, the Republican candidate for Arizonas 9th Congressional District, who ended up posting a picture of his talk with the workers on a campaign Facebook page. An umbrella group of mining companies, according to its own social media postings, has pushed workers to embrace candidates endorsed by company lobbyists a list that is overwhelmingly Republican.

Its not a new dynamic. Every year, companies are taking more and more liberties in attempting to influence workers political behavior.

It used to be that voting was more private. Now, the environment is much more fraught with debate and tension and conflict.

It used to be that voting was more private, said Paula Brantner, the executive director of Workplace Fairness, a nonprofit employee rights group. Brantner said that increased political polarization intensified employer messages to workers: Now, the environment is much more fraught with debate and tension and conflict.

Those efforts by bosses to push employees to certain choices at the ballot box are not just aimed at pushing particular candidates: Businesses are taking brazen steps to coerce workers into taking positions on ballot measures that align with the companies corporate interests. The Intercept collected accounts from both publicly available information and employees of several companies.

This year, employees of Western National Group, a privately held apartment building developer, received a letter which was obtained by The Intercept from chief executive Michael Hayde to please join him in opposing Proposition 10, a California ballot question to allow the expansion of rent control. And nurses at a health care provider, who asked not to be named, told The Intercept that they were bombarded with messages through their employee portal about the importance of voting against Proposition 8 a California measure that would limit profits at dialysis treatment centers.

In Colorado, ConocoPhillips posted messages through a publicly available employee portal about the importance of oppo...

Day of Reckoning: Will Americans Reject the Democrat Policies of Anger and Division? The World is Watching The Gateway Pundit

During a rally on Nov. 1 in Columbia Missouri, President Trump proclaimed, We are taking this country back, returning power to you, the American People. Make no mistake, he is speaking to every one of us, who are blessed enough to be citizens of this beautiful dynamic country.

Drawing night after night the largest, most enthusiastic crowds in Midterm Election history, President Trump declares his continued mission to restore Americas surpassing greatness on all levels. In Fort Wayne, Indiana, President Trump beckons all Americans to join his mission, stating, I am asking every citizen from every party, background and every race, color, and creed to reject the Democrats policies of anger and division, and to unite behind our proud and righteous destiny as Americans.

By every measurement, his strategies and policies have delivered transformative results. In less than 2 yrs, President Trump has expanded American liberties to an unprecedented degree, including historic levels of productivity and economic growth, historic employment opportunity for Americans across nearly every demographic, the restoration of US military prowess, the reinstatement of rule of law, the broadening of religious liberties including restoring freedom speech in Americas Christian Churches, and the re-establishment of a sound US national security policy.

In shocking contrast, America was literally brought to the brink of economic collapse under the Democratic Partys leadership. Case in point the US GDP growth was flat-lining, registering at 1.6% for the 2016 fiscal year. Clearly this was by design, as mere ideological proclivities could not rationally account for the US economic wealth destruction that occurred during the Obama Era, the effects of which were primarily bore by the middle class and by Americas most financially vulnerable individuals. As President Trump has stated numerous times, if he wouldnt have been elected, the US economy would already be in a negative GDP free-fall.

In 2016, it was indeed unimaginable to think that in less than 2 years, the US could roar back from the precipice to have the strongest economy in the world achieving GDP growth of 3-4%, a booming manufacturing sector, and the addition of more than $10 trillion in wealth from corporate investment and stock market value creation to the US Economy. As if this were not enough, for the first time since 1973, the US leads the world in oil production, surpassing the crude pr...

Stacey Abrams Could Have a Hidden Voter Advantage in Overlooked Communities, According to Georgia Campaign Contribution Data The Intercept

After a season in which pollsters botched a significant number of important primaries, traditional polling is again on the defensive. A project developed by two researchers could provide a supplement to the predictions by using donation data to gauge voter enthusiasm in communities underserved by polls thereby presenting a clearer view of the electorate.

Bobby Constantino, a former senior program associate at the Center on Sentencing and Corrections at the Vera Institute of Justice, whose work focused on providing data-driven technical assistance to states, was one of the researchers involved in developing the alternative predictive method. He showed The Intercept how the project used donation data and mapping to identify pockets of support for Bostons Ayanna Pressley and other insurgent primary candidates; he also pointed to the Georgia governors race between Stacey Abrams and Brian Kemp, as well as the U.S. Senate race in Texas between Beto ORourke and Ted Cruz as areas where traditional polls are missing a chunk of the electorate, and where potential upsets may occur.

Democrats might be able to gain as many as 20 percentage points simply by running candidates of color who inspire voters in the countrys most historically marginalized communities, Constantino said.

According to Constantinos research, Abrams, the Democratic nominee in the Georgia race, could pick up heavy support from poor, black urban areas in Atlanta that arent being accounted for in polling. Based on donations to the Abrams campaign from those communities, especially in comparison to 2014 nominee Jason Carter, Constantino believes theres an upsurge of support for Abrams thats thus far been missing in polls that show the race in a dead heat.

We suspect the Georgia gubernatorial race will be telling, absent any vote suppression, said Constantino.

Constantino looked at three of the areas, by zip code, with the lowest adjusted gross income in the state and found that there is significant support for an Abrams run in those areas. In Atlantas 30314, which is 94 percent black, Abrams received 39 contributions to Carters one in 2014; in Atlantas 30354, which is 66 percent black and 17 percent Hispanic, Abrams received 22 donations to Car...

Adam Schiff Vows to Renew Russia Probe if Dems Flip the House The Gateway Pundit

Leaker, liar and ranking member of the House Intel Committee, Adam Schiff (D-CA) said it would be his top priority to renew the Russia probe if the Democrats win the midterms.

If Democrats take control of the House, all of the work Chairman Nunes has done exposing the FISA abuses will be for nothing.

Rep. Adam Schiff will become Chairman of the House Intel Committee and he will harass the President and Republicans with Soviet style show trials.

Via the Los Angeles Times:

Were not taking anything for granted, Schiff said, but laid out his priorities as the committees chair if control of the House flips. Reviving the investigation into Russias election meddling is at the top of the list, Schiff said, and also probing whether Russia has financial leverage over President Trump through his business interests.

The president has sought to keep that off limits, but if thats the leverage Russians pose thats a real threat to our country, Schiff told The Times.

Adam Schiff has already obstructed Chairman Nunes investigation into Spygate and FISA abuses by Obamas FBI and DOJ.

Schiff hit Nunes with a 9 month long ethics investigation which ultimately slowed down the Committees investigation.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi also threatened to use subpoena power as a negotiating tool if the Dems flip the House.

What's Happening With Florida Today? Plus-- A Note From Matt Haggman DownWithTyranny!

Politico: "The general consensus among Republicans is that they will lose the House, and end up in at least a five-seat minority-- that would correspond to a 28-seat loss. Senior Republicans tell us that even in a worst-case scenario, they do not expect to lose 40 seats. A prescient prediction or famous last words?"

Of all the senior Republican lawmakers they spoke with over the weekend, "only one made the case that the GOP will keep the House." If it's who I think it was, he was staggering drunk for the entire weekend. Many Republicans expected the House races to tighten up by election day. Instead the generic ballot polls have gotten even worse for them. The last one for CNN by SSRS shows an absolutely massive 55% to 42% preference for Democrats among likely voters. As I've said before, the pollsters' likely vote modeling is wrong because it is not taking increased Latino and millennial voting into account. Polls predicting less than 30 flipped seats will all be off by as much as 100% tonight.

Heavily Republican AZ District Turns Voters Away Takes Their Names and Numbers and Says Well Get Back to You The Gateway Pundit

Voters in a Republican district in Maricopa County in Arizona were turned away on Tuesday according to reports.

They were told to leave their name and number and they would get a call later?

This is a stunning report!

100 Percent Fed Up reported:

This morning, when the voting polls opened at the Queen Creek Library in the heavily Republican-leaning southeast valley of Maricopa County in AZ, voters were met with some surprising news the only two printers designated for printing their ballots were both broken.

Jake Hoffman, the local Republican Party chairman, was notified by a voter, that between 150-200 voters were asked to write their names on a piece of scratch paper, along with their cell phone numbers, and wait for a text message or call that would inform them of when the ballot printers were functioning, so they could come back again to vote.

According to at least one voter, the voters were NOT being told of another location they could go to vote.

In addition to the issues with the only two printers available at the Queen Creek Library location, this morning, a half hour after the polls had already opened, Fontes tweeted a message to voters in the Gila Precinct, to let them know that they need to vote at another location, due to building access issues.

They just found out about this on the morning of the election?

Let's pretend we all just fell off the turnip truck and actually believe that Fox News is a journalistic operation rather than a basic-cable propaganda outlet for the Republican Party. In this counterfactual scenario, we would believe that this was a violation of Fox's code of journalistic ethics:

As President Trump wrapped up the midterm election cycle with a late-night rally in southeast Missouri on Monday, he was joined by ... conservative media rock stars.

... after Mr. Trump took the microphone, he invited two Fox News personalities, Sean Hannity and Jeanine Pirro, to join him on stage, where each ... delivered a short speech backing the president.
We would take this as an authentic expression of corporate outrage:

Prior to the event, Axios reported that Hannity would be appearing on stage with the president. On Twitter, Hannity swore that nothing could be further from the truth:

This afternoon, Hannity insisted he'd had no intention whatsoever of taking the stage. It just ... happened!

RED WAVE RISES TODAY!!! Early Votes and Rally Participation Indicate Huge Red Wave! VOTE RED TODAY! The Gateway Pundit

Guest post by Joe Hoft

A Red Wave Rises Today!

On June 23, 2018, we reported that the 2018 Mid-terms would be a referendum on government corruption and because of this President Trump and the Republicans would win big.

This was before Democrats made up trumped up charges against a good man Supreme Court Judge Brett Kavanaugh. After the Kavanaugh hearings, where Judge Kavanaugh was wrongfully accused by the Democrats of being a gang rapist, the tide changed. We made our prediction on the election and we stated that a huge red wave was coming.

We followed up our June prediction with our official mid-term prediction on October 2nd.  We predicted that the Republicans would win big in the Senate and would keep the House.

Today we will find out!  There are two material indications that today will be a good day for President Donald J. Trump and Republicans Rally Attendance and Voter Turnout to Date.

It seems like every day over the past few weeks, President Trump and former President Obama are holding rallies somewhere in America.  In all of these cases the results are the same President Trumps rallies hold massive crowds while President Obamas rallies cant fill small high school gymnasiums.

Day after day, President held massive rallies like the one below in Florida, filling up venues with record size crowds and people waiting in mile long lines for hours

Also, former President Obama held rallies to small crowds like the one below in Las Vegas the tingle is gon...

Individualism and the 60s bensozia

One commonly heard analysis of the culture of the 1960s is that it was fundamentally about self-empowerment and thus led inevitably, not to socialism, but to libertarianism. Reason, the libertarian magazine, found a good example in the "statement of purpose" for the Whole Earth Catalog of 1968:

We are as gods and might as well get good at it. So far remotely done power and gloryas via government, big business, formal education, churchhas succeeded to the point where gross defects obscure actual gains. In response to this dilemma and to these gains a realm of intimate, personal power is developingpower of the individual to conduct his own education, find his own inspiration, shape his own environment, and share his adventure with whoever is interested. Tools that aid this process are sought and promoted by the WHOLE EARTH CATALOG.

Por Favor Vote Hoy-- PorTodo Nuestro Bien DownWithTyranny!

This isn't a new poll but it could be the numbers we see on our TV screens tonight. Say a prayer. A result like that in Texas today is going to be dependent on, among other things, Latino turnout. Virtually all polling models assume Latinos will not turn out in large numbers. If that changes today, say goodbye to Ted Cruz and... HELLO BETO! Nearly 39% of Texans are Latino. BETO will win if they vote today in larger numbers than has been usual. AND, a big Latino turnout in Texas today could also help in more than a few districts with big Hispanic populations-- here's who has the most to gain:
TX-02- 29.6% Todd Litton
TX-07- 31.5% Lizzie Fletcher
TX-10- 25.9% Mike Siegel
TX-21- 27.7% Joseph Kopser
TX-23- 70.8% Gina Jones
TX-27- 50.8% Eric Holguin
TX-32- 28.3% Colin Allred

California is another state with a huge Hispanic population-- like Texas, around 39%-- where an oversized Latino turnout today could be determinative, maybe even electing a progressive senator, Kevin de Len, instead of reelecting the conservative Dianne Feinstein, with a shameful anti-immigrant history unworthy of our state. In California congressional races, a big...

Trump Linked Casino Designer (Friedmutter) & Trump Brand Hotel Developer (Chawla) Give Big To Roger Wickers Campaign For US Senator From Mississippi Mining Awareness +

Matthews was discussed here: https://miningawareness.wordpress.com/2018/11/02/largest-donor-to-mississippi-senator-wickers-re-election-campaign-is-palm-beach-florida-investor/

A Trump connected casino designer named Friedmutter, who lives in Nevada, and a Canadian born Asian-Indian named Chawla, who is building Trump branded hotels in the Mississippi Delta, are among Roger Wickers largest donors. Big givers? Well, not really. Just big by Mississippi campaign standards, where people are poor and those who sell out apparently do it on the cheap. Unless, of course, more money is flowing under the table.

Senator Roger Wicker of Mississippi and/or his campaign cannot spell Mississippian! There has been much discussion of the Mississippi brain-drain during the campaign, even though its been going on for half a century or longer. The very fact that there are any brains left in Mississippi to drain is a miracle in and of itself. Hiring competent Mississippians who check their work would be a good start for Senator Wicker in helping to cure the brain-drain! Did he hire someone from Tennessee (Tennessean) or Alabama (Alabamian) instead?

THE SENATOR WHO IS SUPPOSED TO BE REPRESENTING MISSISSIPPIANS IN THE US SENATE CANNOT SPELL MISSISSIPPIAN!

Midnight Meme Of The Day! DownWithTyranny!

by Noah

I've lived in New York City for 39 years so I've gotten to see the Statue Of Liberty innumerable times. She's an elderly woman and frequently in need of repairs. She's a metaphor in that sense. But, the important thing is: She gets those repairs, imperfect though they may be. Most of us, in fact, gladly pay for those repairs. Sometimes, the repairs are only of the stop gap variety. Sometimes they are extensive and deep. Consider today, Election Day, a day for those repairs.

There are however many in our country who would prefer to preserve other statues; statues that stand for something quite the opposite of the Statue Of Liberty. They'll tell you it's their birthright. They'll tell you it's their heritage, even though (or especially) when that heritage that they so cherish includes hanging black people from trees. They make no bones about protecting that heritage, especially when protecting that heritage means depriving people of their constitutional right to vote if not their right to breathe. The Republican Party and their severely mentally ill leader have thrown their lot in with those who embrace that heritage. They even call them very fine people, even as they do their bidding and run over people in the streets, shoot up synagogues, shoot up and burn down African-American churches, and mail pipe bombs to democrats. The party that once ran against terrorism now runs with terrorism. Some of them deny that they do, while they smirk at us, and cross their fingers behind their backs.

The only legal power we have to rid ourselves of such people; the only legal power we have to rid ourselves of the Steve Kings, Duncan Hunters, Dave Brats, and Scott Walkers of our government is to vote them out. The same is true of those who don't even consider our government to be their government or our country to be their country: people like Devin Nunes and Dana Rhohra...

More Americans Want A Job This Year Than Last; More Working Multiple Jobs To Make Ends Meet This Year Than Last Mining Awareness +

According to the latest job report on November 2, 2018: As of October of 2018, over 5 million people in the United States currently want a job in contrast to 4.9 million in October of 2017. Over 8 million people in the United States are multiple jobholders, vs 7.4 million last year. 2.18 million have both primary and secondary part time jobs, as opposed to 1.77 million last year.

Part time jobs are unlikely to have benefits. A full time and second part time job generally means that the full time job doesnt pay enough to make ends meet. There are more full time workers with a secondary part time job, as well.  5.2% of workers are multiple jobholders this year vs. 4.8% last year.

Canadian born Republican Senator Ted Cruz of Texas has actively intervened on behalf of a Canadian (uranium) mining company, against a US State (Virginia), along with Senators Cotton of Arkansas and Inhofe of Oklahoma.

Perhaps they are accusing Virginia of being subversive to the British Crown? Indeed. It was called the American Revolution: The history of Virginia in the American Revolution begins with the role the Colony of Virginia played in early dissent against the British government and culminates with the defeat of General Cornwallis by the allied forces at the Siege of Yorktown in 1781 Numerous Virginians played key roles in the Revolution, including George Washington, Patrick Henry, and Thomas Jefferson. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virginia_in_the_American_Revolution

The Red Wave LewRockwell

There are several reasons for my judgment that it is Republican voters who will awake happily following the primary contests on Tuesday.

(1)The pollsters who have been telling us for months about a blue wave have abandoned this line altogether. Considering that the polls, being of a piece with the rest of the media, are in the majority of instances designed and administered by Democrats, the modest advantages that they show for their fellow Democrats should be taken as a hint that they know they are in trouble

(2)There are a few movements, like the Walk Away movement, whose founder is a gay man who is a former Democrat and which has already attracted hundreds of thousands of other former Democrats, that has received little to no coverage by most of the (Democrat-dominated) media. Yet both the rapidly growing size of this phenomenon as well as the medias resolve to neglect it suggest that it indicates a pattern of increasing disenchantment with the Democratic Party;

(3)The Kavanaugh debacle;

(4)The caravan of thousands of undocumented invaders coming from the South that were all able to watch in real time;

(5)Leftist violence and intimidation;

(6)Even with over 90% tireless, negative coverage by the Democratic-controlled media, reputable polls have shown Trumps popularity rating exceeding 50%. This in all likelihood means that it is actually much higher;

(7)Trumps rallies continue to dwarf in size anything that any politician has managed to achieve. Obamas crowd numbers are, at best, half that of Trumps. The enthusiasm for the President is as highhigherthan its ever been. No Democrat, including the sainted Obama, generates any enthusiasm among the partys base, much less a fraction of that which consumesTrumps constituents;

(8)Because of the nastiness of Trump-haters and the fact that Trump-hatred is all of the rage within the popular culture, many people who sympathize with Trump, or at least who share none of the zealotry of those who would slice their own mothers throats to take him down, are not likely to reveal their willingness to vote Republican;

(9)Even among traditional Republican voters, pollsters are now informing us that they are significantly less likely than Democrats to openly share their voting preferences. And when it is considered that independents are even less likely than Republicans in this regard, polls forecasting Democrat victories should be seen for their questionable character;

(10)Aside from the biases of individual pollsters, there is an intrinsic bias in polling: In two significant respects, they are outdated:

First, unlike in times past, this generation, given the boundless sea of information (and misinformation) flowing from multiple, competing news sources that it has at its collective fingertips,...

Update: Reporter FIRED After Caught on Tape Disparaging GOP Michigan Senate Candidate John James The Gateway Pundit

Fired Michigan reporter, Brenda Battel

Huron Daily Tribune reporter, Brenda Battel was caught on tape disparaging GOP Senate candidate John James when she called his campaign looking for an interview and thought she hung up the phone after leaving a voicemail.

Brenda Battel was fired from the Huron Daily Tribune Monday night after her Editor heard the voicemail.

Via Henry Rodgers, Capitol Hill reporter for The Daily Caller: I have listened to the voicemail left by Brenda Battel to Mr. James campaign, and find no reason to defend this behavior, Huron Daily Tribune editor Kate Hessling said in a statement. Brenda Battels employment has been immediately terminated.

The Huron Daily Tribune sincerely apologizes to Mr. James and to the public, she continued. These statements do not represent the views of the Tribune as a whole, nor do they reflect the actions of a responsible journalist.

DWT California Voter Guide For Tuesday (Reprise) DownWithTyranny!

We published this a few weeks ago for early voters but I figured I'd run it again-- with a bonus video at the end-- for Californians going to the polls on Tuesday. First and foremost on our list is the U.S. Senate race, in which we strongly back Kevin de Len against fossilized conservative incumbent Dianne Feinstein.

Goal ThermometerWe don't usually back better of two evil candidates-- which is what the Democratic Party usually encourages, particularly on the federal level. But, this year, because of the existential threat from Trump, we are doing just that. Vote for every Democrat and against every Republican-- even for candidates as lacking in anything to recommend them as Andrew Janz and Gil Cisneros. There I said it!. That said, we are genuinely excited about some Democrats, especially Katie Porter, the progressive running in Orange County (CA-45), Ammar Campa-Najjar, the progressive running for Congress in San Diego County (CA-50) and Jovanka Beckles, the progressive running for state Assembly in the East Bay. All of our California faves are on the Blue America thermometer on the right. Prediction: Gavin Newsom will win and any progressive who voted for him will be very, very sorry. For state Superintendent of Schools, there's a really good candidate: Tony Thurmond and a really bad canddiate, the charter school guy, Marshall Tuck. OK, that's the easy stuff. Now the statewide propositions:
Prop 1- YES-- authorizes $4 billion in bonds to fund affordable housing for low-income families, seniors, people with disabilities, farmworkers and veterans.

Kavanaugh Report Reveals Mistaken Identity Claims Grassley Probe Concludes No Evidence to Back Sexual Assault Allegations The Gateway Pundit

Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) released a 414 page report on Brett Kavanaugh over the weekend and confirmed that there is no credible evidence to support the sexual assault allegations.

The Committee interviewed 45 individuals and took 25 written statements relating to the various allegations against Kavanaugh, the Senate Judiciary said.

Grassleys probe also revealed details behind mistaken identity claims from two other witnesses who came forward claiming they were the ones who had the encounter with Christine Ford, not Brett Kavanaugh.

Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee revealed in late September that they were talking to two men who thought they had the encounter with Christine Ford, not Brett Kavanaugh.

One of the men claims it may have been a case of mistaken identity.

Fox News reported:

The man who claims he may have had the encounter with Ford was one of 40 people committee investigators interviewed as part of its probe into the sexual allegations against Kavanaugh, which was done alongside the FBI background check that was compiled in a matter of days.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, in releasing the report, said there was no credible evidence to support the allegations against Kavanaugh.

Ford testified she was 100 percent positive Kavanaugh assaulted her, rejecting the notion of a case of mistaken identity.

But the report gave details from the purported witness claiming exactly that scenario. The man told the investigators that when he was a 19-year-old college student, he had visited Washington over spring break and kissed a girl he believes was Kavanaughs accuser.

He said that the kiss happened in the bedroom of a house which was about a 15-to-20 minute walk from the Van Ness Metro, that Dr. Ford was wearing a swimsuit under her clothing, and that the kissing ended when a friend jumped on them as a joke, the report said.

The Van Ness Metro is in Northwest D.C. His name was redac...

The Libertarian Quest LewRockwell

To historians is granted a talent that even the gods are denied to alter what has already happened!
(David Irving)

It is no secret that I am not a Hayekian. Still, I consider Hayek a great economist not in the same league as Mises, but few if any economists are. Hayeks fame in the public mind, however, has less to do with his economic writings but stems largely from his writings in political theory, and it is in this area where I consider Hayek as mostly deficient. Not even his system of definitions here is internally consistent. His excursions into the field of epistemology are quite ingenious, yet also here he falls short of the accomplishments of his teacher Mises. Nonetheless, owing to his wide-ranging interdisciplinary oeuvre, which contains a treasure trove of keen insights into many issues, I consider Hayek one of the 20th centurys outstanding intellectuals writing in the social sciences.

As a reflection of this esteem, Hayek was also quoted in the programmatic statement of the PFS. We must make the building of a free society once more an intellectual adventure, a deed of courage. What we lack is a liberal Utopia, a programme which seems neither a mere defence of things as they are nor a diluted kind of socialism, but a truly liberal radicalism which does not spare the susceptibilities of the mighty, which is not too severely practical and which does not confine itself to what appears today as politically possible. We need intellectual leaders who are prepared to resist the blandishments of power and influence and who are willing to work for an ideal, however small may be the prospects of its early realization. They must be men who are willing to stick to principles and to fight for their full realization, however remote. Unless we can make the philosophical foundations of a free society once more a living intellectual issue, and its implementation a task which challenges the ingenuity and imagination of our liveliest minds, the prospects of freedom are indeed dark. But if we can regain that belief in the power of ideas which was the mark of liberalism at its best, the battle is not lost.

Hayek of course did not follow his own advice but ended up, in his political philosophy, with a mish-mash full of internally inconsistent compromises. Yet this does not mean that his plea for an uncompromising intellectual radicalism, which has been the purpose and become the hallmark of the PFS, is not worthwhile or correct.

But this shall not be my topic here. Rather, I want to speak about another important, if you will complementary insight of Hayeks that can be found in the introduction he wrote for the collection of essays gathered in the book...

Owners vs. Managers LewRockwell

When I was in law practice, I represented employers in matters involving labor law. My experiences confirmed how respect for the inviolability of private property interests was the essential element not only for a peaceful and orderly society but also for a world of individual liberty free of the violence and destructiveness of political systems. One of the things I noticed with a high degree of consistency was that clients who were the owners of businesses tended to take longer-term (timewise) and more philosophically principled actions than did those who were only managers of the firms they represented. Ownership carried with it a perspective that was inseparable from the personhood of the owner. Business firms with such names as Ford, Chrysler, Westinghouse, J.P. Morgan, and Rockefeller, reflected the sense that the personality of the creator-owner transcended his own life and carried over into the family-name shared by his children and grandchildren. In much the same way that long-standing farms would have family cemeteries on them, property was looked upon as more than a temporary convenience or asset. One who was an owner cared about the long-term implications of his/her decision-making that extended beyond their death.

The mindset of the manager of an enterprise, I observed, was much different. Being an employee of a firm owned by another, his/her perspective extended, at most, to the end of the contract of employment. There is nothing dishonest or irresponsible in this arrangement; it only demonstrates some of the costs incurred when ownership is separated from control of property. The owner would not want the manager to share in his/her ultimate authority over the property; nor would the manager, as an employee, expect to.

In this sense, the employees motivations are comparable to those of politicians, judges, and government regulatory agencies. The outcomes of human action are a reflection of the incentives of the actors. The productive and creative regularities of the marketplace are determined not alone by the moral or visionary character of those working within it, nor by their innovative genius. It is, rather, that the incentives of those who control decision-making over what they own, will always be different from those with the power to control the property interests of others. It misses the point to blame politicians, ideologically-driven bureaucrats, or other government officials for undesired outcomes of their interventions in economic matters. Owners are motivated to maximize the long-term well-being of what they own. Non-owners are driven by other considerations. It cannot be otherwise. The nave sentiment that bringing businessmen into government in the expectation that their decisions will foster the general profitability of marketplace participants continues to be voiced. That such practices enhance the allure...

Censorship and Gun Control LewRockwell

Sadly, but not unexpectedly, the mass shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh is being used to justify new infringements on liberty. Of course, opponents of gun rights are claiming this shooting proves America needs more gun control. Even some who normally oppose gun control say the government needs to do more to keep guns out of the hands of the mentally ill. Those making this argument ignore the lack of evidence that background checks, new restrictions on the rights of those alleged to have a mental illness, or any other form of gun control would have prevented the shooter from obtaining a firearm.

Others are using the shooters history of posting anti-Semitic comments on social media to call for increased efforts by both government and social media websites to suppress hate speech. The shooter posted anti-Semitic statements on the social media site Gab. Gab, unlike Twitter and Facebook, does not block or ban users for offensive comments. After the shooting Gab was suspended by its internet service provider, and PayPal has closed the sites account. This is an effort to make social media websites responsible for the content and even the actions of their users, turning the sites operators into thought police.

Some social media sites, particularly Facebook and Twitter, are eager to silence not just bigots but those using their platforms to advocate for liberty. Facebook has recently banned a number of libertarian pages including Cop Block, a site opposing police misconduct. Twitter has also banned a number of conservatives and libertarians, as well as critics of American foreign policy. Some libertarians say we should not get upset as these are private companies exercising private property rights. However, these companies are working with government and government-funded entities such as the Atlantic Council, a group funded by NATO and the military-industrial complex, to determine who should and should not be banned.

The effort to silence hate speech is not just about outlawing racist, sexist, or anti-Semitic speech. The real goal is to discredit, and even criminalize, criticism of the welfare-warfare state by redefining such criticism as hate. It is not just progressives who wish to use laws outlawing hate speech to silence political opponents. Some neoconservatives want to criminalize criticism of Israel for the nonsensical reason that any criticism of Israel is anti-Semitic. Other right-wing authoritarians wish to expand hate crime laws to include crimes committed against police officers.

The Fourth Turning LewRockwell

In retrospect, the spark might seem as ominous as a financial crash, as ordinary as a national election, or as trivial as a Tea Party. The catalyst will unfold according to a basic Crisis dynamic that underlies all of these scenarios: An initial spark will trigger a chain reaction of unyielding responses and further emergencies. The core elements of these scenarios (debt, civic decay, global disorder) will matter more than the details, which the catalyst will juxtapose and connect in some unknowable way. If foreign societies are also entering a Fourth Turning, this could accelerate the chain reaction. At home and abroad, these events will reflect the tearing of the civic fabric at points of extreme vulnerability  problem areas where America will have neglected, denied, or delayed needed action.  The Fourth Turning  Strauss & Howe

The paragraph above captures everything that has happened, is happening, and will happen during this Fourth Turning. It was written over two decades ago, but no one can deny its accuracy regarding our present situation. The spark was a financial crash. The response to the financial crash by the financial and governmental entities, along with their Deep State co-conspirators who created the financial collapse due to their greed and malfeasance, led to the incomprehensible election of Donald Trump, as the deplorables in flyover country evoked revenge upon the corrupt establishment.

The chain reaction of unyielding responses by the left and the right accelerates at a breakneck pace, with absolutely no possibility of compromise. A new emergency or winner take all battle seems to be occurring on a weekly basis, with the mid-term elections as the likely trigger for the next phase of this Fourth Turning.

There is no positive outcome which will come from these elections. The no holds barred ad campaigns being waged by both sides have sunk to new despicable lows. Winning at all costs is what matters. The Republicans were always going to retain the Senate, but now look like they will gain seats. The overwhelming consensus among the fake news media for months has been for Democrats to retake the House by picking up 20 to 30 seats. The attempted Brett Kavanaugh lynching by left wing extremists and left-wing media, along with the left wing financed third world caravan, has dialed up the intensity and enthusiasm of Trump supporters. The tone of the mainstream media has grown worried and increasingly venomous as they see their lock on the House possibly slipping away.

Either result is likely to deepen the anger, hate, violence and turmoil, which has alrea...

A Colonel Bogey Salute LewRockwell

While every other car company is doing its best to clap loudest for Stalin building electric cars for which there is no real market (while pretending there is one or will be, just around the corner) in order to solve problems which dont exist, but which will create problems that didnt exist  Dodge has built the Redeye.

The only battery this thing has is the one which starts up the 797 horsepower supercharged 6.2 liter Hemi V8.

There is no place to plug it in.

You fill it up with the highest octane gas you can find.

You wont have to wait long, either  whether at the pump (less than five minutes) or getting to the next one. The Redeye which has 90 more horsepower than the 707 horsepower Challenger (and Charger) Hellcat that sent countless caravans of metrosexual snowflakes into a cataleptic state or shaking and shivering to a therapists couch will get you to 60 in even less than the regular Hellcats three seconds.

Punching holes in the ozone all the way.

Not really, of course.

Dodge isnt sociopathic. Just not delusional.

And maybe just a little bit pissed.

The people in charge there know the only threat posed by powerful internal combustion engines even ultra-powerful ones like the Redeyes is to the febrile neurosis of people who have been rendered neurotic by a relentless juggernaut of Fake News about vehicle emissions (almost nonexistent and no longer a problem vis-a-vis air quality since at least the mid-90s) and also by the shibboleth of our era climate change which is being used as the catch-all pretext to corral and limit everything, including our mobility.

But never the mobility of our betters, which ought to tell you something about climate change.

Dodge also knows that people dont need to have their palms greased with bribes (the polite term is subsidy) to buy cars like the Hellcat Redeye. They will beg dealerships to sell them one  at full MSRP.

It is not necessary to mandate the production of Redeyes, either or even run-of-the-mill Challengers and Chargers. There is profit there.

An honest one.

Voting Right LewRockwell

Election day has arrived.

For the past few weeks, conservative, evangelical, and fundamentalist Christians have been urged from their church pulpits to vote on election day. Not just to vote for anyone, of course, but to vote right, vote smart, vote correctly, or vote biblicallyall meaning vote Republican.

But in some states, it is not just people that these Christians have been urged to vote for. Conservative, evangelical, and fundamentalist Christians in North Dakota, Michigan, Utah, Missouri have also been told to vote on ballot initiatives.

Why especially those states? Many other states have ballot initiatives. According to Ballotpedia: Voters in 37 states will decide 155 statewide ballot measures in November 2018.

The answer is marijuana, the evil weed that, in the minds of most conservative, evangelical, and fundamentalist Christians, rivals the Democratic Party in its evilness.

Thirty-one states and the District of Columbia have already legalized marijuana for medical use. This means that only the states of Alabama, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina, South Dakota, Nebraska, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming have not legalized medical marijuana.

Recreational marijuana is legal in nine states and the District of Columbia. These states are: Alaska, California, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Nevada, Oregon, Vermont, and Washington.

Now, on election day, voters in two statesNorth Dakota and Michiganwill decide on initiatives to legalize recreational marijuana. Voters in two other statesUtah and Missouriwill decide on initiatives concerning medical marijuana. Voters in Oklahoma already approved a ballot initiative legalizing medical marijuana back in June.

Conservative, evangelical, and fundamentalist Christian pastors and church leaders are adamant that the marijuana juggernaut be stopped dead in its tracks.

Why?

There are a multitude of reasons why these Christians and their followers are opposed to people using marijuana. As a theological and cultural conservative Christian, I would probably agree with many of them so there is no need to list them here.

But why people should or shouldnt use marijuana is not the issue. The issue is simply this: In light of all the negative things about marijuana use, what should the government do when it comes to marijuana?

Absolutely nothing.

The libertarian position on marijuana and any other drug is straightforward and consistent.

There should be no laws at any level of government for any reason regarding the buying, selling, growing, processing, transporting, manufacturing, advertising, using, or possessing of any drug for any reason.

This is true for three r...

The Principles of Legitimate Command

Tom Hanks and Passepartout are the only two human inhabitants of a Pacific island. Neither is aware of the existence of the other until, one fateful day, they meet. What happens next is a matter of some moment. Will they greet each other politely and go about their respective businesses? Will they agree to cooperate for their mutual benefit? Will they fight? Who can tell? However, we can be reasonably sure in supposing that if Hanks were to command Passepartout to Tote dat barge! Lif dat bale! or demand that Passepartout give up his vile habit of drinking coconut juice while eating fish, or insist that Passepartout cooperate with him in his fishing and hunting ventures, or abstain from servile work on a Sunday in short, if Hanks were in any way to attempt to require Passepartout to obey his commands, Passepartout would, I believe, rightly resent, and probably resist, such injunctions. The same, of course, applies if roles were to be reversed, and Passepartout were to assume the position of would-be commander.

The Hanks-Passepartout scenario can be replicated in any number of literary variations, limited only by the fertility of ones imagination. For example, more people might be added to the islands population and, while this would result in there being more possible relationships, it would not change the nature of those relationships. The essential principles regarding the legitimacy of command can be established by reflection on our insular drama:

  1. Adam may legitimately command Benjamin to perform action C if and...

The End Is Near LewRockwell

When I was a boy, there were men, mainly quite old and apparently with nothing else to do, who walked up and down the prominent streets of towns and cities with sandwich boards announcing the imminent end of the world. They looked pretty pleased about it, too, as if they were in possession of a signed and sealed escape clause. There was one in particular whom I remember who warned also of the seven deadly proteins. An enigmatic smile played about his lips; the proteins were supposed to arouse the passions that led to sin, and sin led to damnation, which, with the end of the world fast approaching, was imminent for all who continued to consume them.

The sandwich boards called everyone to repentance: Repent lest ye perish! They have disappeared from our streets but have been replaced by warnings on our computers that a financial crisis is imminent. They call us to save not our souls, but the value of our investments.

The prophecies of financial Armageddon, while no doubt true in a certain abstract sense (for financial crashes there have always been), are not very useful to poor small-fry such as myself. They are like the warnings of seismologists who tell the inhabitants of a city that a major earthquake is inevitable where they are living, but they cannot say exactly, or even approximately, when. The when, of course, is the crucial datum; and with regard to financial prophecy, it makes all the difference between making and losing money. We all want to sell at a peak and buy at a trough; somehow it seems easier to do the opposite, especially under the guidance of financial advisers.

Recently I received a dire warning from a commentator who seems to have done very well personally from his prophecies of doom. He tells us that the banks are up to their old tricks again, lending riskily with gay abandon, selling on their risky debts to those who have not the faintest idea of what they are buying, having learned from the last crash that when push comes to shove, or insolvency to bankruptcy, they will be rescued from the consequences of their own improvidence.

But this time, he warns, the banks will not be bailed out; instead we, the account holders, will be bailed in. Our money in our accounts will be turned into the working capital of the banks; we will be handed shares in the banks, which will be unsalable for many years, and in the meantime our money will be as good as having been confiscated. Personal liquidity will be doled out as a parent doles out pocket money to his child. For those of us who do not have many years to wait, our last years will be those of eking out an existence on such pittance as we are permitted. There will be no escape from the regime because, of course, all payments to us have to be made through banks. My wife, who has never trusted money in the bank, only land and gold under the bed, will have been proved right.

Chaos Reigns in the Trump Administration LewRockwell

Sanctions may indeed be coming but will they have the bite that Donald Trump is hoping for? Its a good question as we open November with a flurry of edicts from Trumps State and Treasury Departments.

Lets go over them all and see just how contradictory they are while at the same time acceding to the reality of just how much the world has changed in the six years since President Obama first went nuclear on Iran with sanctions.

It starts with Trumps tweet that Sanctions are Coming. Okay, fine we knew this. But sanctions dont account for much if the State Department is handing out 180 day waivers to countries.

Next up was Pompeo saying on the same day that no less than eight countries would be exempt from sanctions for buying oil from Iran.

A little news for Mike Pompeo, Halloween was last week.

Contrast this with 2012 where India, for example, to get around the sanctions had to essentially barter to get much needed Iranian oil, because no such exemption was forthcoming.

South Korea and Japan were also denied waivers then, but according to the Financial Times they are all among the countries to be exempted.

Mr. Pompeo did not name the eight jurisdictions, but Turkeys energy minister said his country had been given an exemption. India, South Korea, Japan and Iraq are among other US allies that experts expect to benefit. China is also expected to be a beneficiary. The list will be announced on Monday.

Mr. Pompeo pushed back on suggestions that the US was being lenient to Iran or that the Trump administration had failed to deliver a hard line in the absence of European backing. He said two of the eight jurisdictions would reduce Iranian oil imports to zero in a few weeks and the other six had agreed to greatly reduced levels.

As always, believe it when you see it. What matters, ultimately, is that Turkey, India and China continue their purchases. They are some of the biggest consumers of Iranian oil. And as the competition drops for Irans production so to will the price and I wouldnt be shocked if eventually all of these countries actually increase their imports of Iranian oil rather than cut one single barrel.

I mean, its not like I heard that India was now all of a sudden backing out of the new IPI India Pakistan India pipeline that Gazprom is building for it.

In fact, lets get serious here. India, Iran and Russia just announced more concrete plans about opening up the North South Transport Corridor to ship goods between them.

I find it funny that Turkey is no longer on Trumps bad people list once he was exposed ov...

Turn Off, Tune Out, Drop Out LewRockwell

An unknown but likely staggeringly large percentage of small business owners in the U.S. are an inch away from calling it quits and closing shop.

Timothy Leary famously coined the definitive 60s counterculture phrase, Turn on, tune in, drop out in 1966. (According to Wikipedia, In a 1988 interview with Neil Strauss, Leary said the slogan was given to him by Marshall McLuhan during a lunch in New York City.)

Dropping out of a broken, dysfunctional status quo in terminal decline has a long history. The chapter titles of Michael Grants excellent account of The Fall of the Roman Empire identify the core dynamics of decline:

The Gulfs Between the Classes

The Credibility Gap

The Partnerships That Failed

The Groups That Opted Out

The Undermining of Effort

Our focus today is on The Groups That Opted Out. In the decline phase of the Western Roman Empire, people dropped out by abandoning tax-serfdom for life in a Christian monastery (or as a worker on monastery lands) or by removing themselves to the countryside.

Today, people drop out in various ways: early retirement, disability or other social welfare, homesteading or making and saving enough money in the phantom-wealth economy that they can quit official work in middle age.

We can see this in the labor participation rates for the populace at large, women and men. The labor participation rate reflects the percentage of the population thats in the workforce, either working or actively looking for work.

That the number of people in the workforce has declined significantly is well-known. The US Census pegs the number of people not in the labor force at 95 million. This includes people who are disabled, in school, etc., so the number should be taken with a grain of salt. But the decline in the relative size of the labor force is remarkable:

WATCH: How We Viewed Measles LewRockwell

The way Measles is discussed in todays world, youd think it was similar to the black plague. We tout vaccinations for saving millions of peoples lives when it comes to the measles, and its likely if you were born after the measles vaccine came into the picture, you might assume the measles commonly killed people.

But are the measles truly as diseases like Ebola for example? Could we view this more as a routine childhood illness?

Youve heard of it, a news report comes out terrifying the public about new measles outbreak that has affected 17 children in an area populated in the millions. For weeks, reporters go on about how this could spread across the entire country, affecting millions, all because someone didnt vaccinate. Yet, thats not the cause for the spread. It was actually the vaccinated that caused the spread. Why all the fear? Why the hysteria? Is measles even that dangerous?

I recall asking my parents and people from even older generations about the measles and what it was like when they were younger. All seemed to say it was a pretty standard and harmless childhood illness that would last a few days to a week. Some red dots, a fever maybe, and a couple days home from school In some cases, I was told stories about how it was commonplace for  people to bring their kids around other kids who had measles so they could contract it themselves and be immune to it from there forward. What? They actually wanted their kids to get the measles? Indeed.

Yet today, thanks to irrational advertising, poorly educated doctors and misinformed parents, the measles are seen as an extremely dangerous illness that should be feared at all costs. Yet its all conditioning.

Think about it, when you bring up vaccinations online or to some doctors, what happens? We see hysteria. Poorly backed up facts, emotional rants and personal attacks are what comes out of those questioned about vaccines. You might even be publicly shamed for bringing up such things. Little do we hear rational, calm and well backed up responses even in the face of a ton of independent science that has shown serious concerns about vaccines. Even mainstream media tells the story with hysteria and false claims.

All of this happens because of a lack of questioning, a lack of looking at the big picture and because we made something overly emotional when its truly about being open and rational.

We can, in part, thank the industry that brought you Vioxx, opioid addiction, Thalidomide, Thimerosal, Fen-Phen ($14 billion in damages), Diethylstilbestrol (tumors), Baycol (cholesterol drug, 100k deaths), Bextra (cousin of Vioxx, $1.8 billion in damages), Rezulin (caused hepatitis), Seld...

California Hit By 39 Earthquakes Within 24 Hours LewRockwell

A series of large earthquakes has rattled California over the last 24 hours, and scientists are telling us that the shaking was the result of movement along the San Andreas Fault system.  In recent months there has been an alarming amount of seismic activity all along the Ring of Fire, and there have been times when the number of global earthquakes has been way above normal.  Could it be possible that all of this unusual seismic activity is leading up to something?  As you will see below, experts are telling us that we are overdue for the Big One to hit California.  And when it does eventually strike, it could be far worse than most people would dare to imagine.

Most of the 39 significant earthquakes that have struck California within the last 24 hours have happened along the San Andreas Fault.  The following comes from CBS News

A swarm of earthquakes along the San Andreas Fault, the largest measuring a 4.1 magnitude, rumbled through the Hollister area and the Salinas Valley Friday morning. CBS San Francisco, citing officials, reports the quakes rattled nerves but caused no major damage.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the 4.1 quake hit at 5:58 a.m. PDT 12 miles southwest of the small community of Tres Pinos. It was followed by quakes measuring 3.6, 3.2 and 3.0.

Officials are saying that this shaking was caused by movement along the San Andreas Fault system, and the initial magnitude 4.1 quake was quickly followed by a series of...

Photos: Media Hold Worshipful Election Eve Press Conference For Down in the Polls Robert Beto ORourke The Gateway Pundit

Media darling Rep. Robert Beto ORourke (D-TX) who is running for the U.S. Senate against incumbent Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) held an election eve press conference Monday night that looked more like the media holding a campaign rally for their beloved Beto.

ORourke is down in the polls going into election day and is now seen as a long shot to defeat Cruz. But the media is reporting he is within striking distance.

Reporters posted their photos to Twitter of the rapturous scene of the media at UT El Paso where ORourke, accompanied by his wife, Amy, was holding a rally for his other supporters besides the media. Reporters from all over Texas, the U.S. and the world gathered around ORourke looking more like supporters than unbiased journalists.

New Jersey Group Gives Big To Senators Roger Wicker-Ted Cruz To Sanction Iran; Apparently Want War With Iran; If You Want Peace, Vote Them Out Mining Awareness +

It is important to understand that these large NORPAC donors, who appear to want the US at war with Iran, are a only tiny fraction of the American Jewish population and are mostly Orthodox. In short, they are a minority, within a minority, within a minority. Why they and Trumps long-time buddy, Israeli PM Netanyahu, want war with Iran remains an abiding mystery to us. It is very, very, important to understand that Netanyahu and Trump are in open conflict with those Conservative Jews whose synagogue was recently attacked. The majority of American Jews are not Trump or Netanyahu or Putins sort of Jews. The current head of NORPAC is an apparent extremist named Dr. Ben Chouake. The only real cure for anti-semitism is to understand that there is a great diversity in Jewish religious and political beliefs, just as there is a great diversity in Christian and Islamic religious and political beliefs.

In March 2017, Leon and Roz Kozak hosted (an apparent fundraiser) event for Senator Roger Wicker of Mississippi. At the event Wicker said that he wanted to sanction Iran for non-nuclear purposes, and wanted to have the Iran Revolutionary Guard Corps internationally designated as a terrorist entity. He has co-sponsored anti Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) legislation (S. 170, the Combating BDS Act of 2017).

Wicker sits on four Senate committees in the 115th Congress: the Armed Services Committee; the Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee; the Environment and Public Works Committee (EPW), and the Rules Committee.

Going to war with Iran, appears to be Roger Wickers idea of helping Veterans.

The Daily Caller exclusively reported:

Brenda Battel, a reporter for Huron Daily Tribune, left the voicemail on Jamess campaign offices phone number at 3:40 PM Monday, requesting the interview for Wednesday, the day after the Nov. 6 midterm elections. In the voicemail, she expresses her interest in interviewing James, believes she hung up the phone, and then goes on to curse about a possible James victory, saying she doesnt think it will happen.

Hi, my name is Brenda Battel, Im a reporter with the Huron Daily Tribune in Bad Axe, Michigan, Battel said in the voicemail.

Im probably going to send an email over to the info@johnjamesforsenate.com with some details. Um, if youd like to call me back, my number is [redacted] Thank you.

At this point Brenda Battel tries to hang up the phone after leaving her number, but the phone remains connected to the line and continues to record her voice.

Fascinating animated map that shows the movements of populations across western Eurasia beginning in 8,000 BC, based on 1872 individual DNA datasets. I recommend running it with the "cultures" layer turned off; unless you know a lot of obscure archaeological terms this means nothing and even knowing them I found it distracting.

The two big events are the sudden appearance of yellow Anatolian farmers in central Europe around 5000 BC

and the massive influx of red "steppe derived" people in central Europe around 2500 BC.

Stephen Colbert Says Theres No Bullsh*t Voter Fraud But Hes Voting Via Sketchy PO Box Not in His Home District The Gateway Pundit

Late night comedian Stephen Colbert who has previously mocked the idea of voter fraud by calling it bullshit on his program, The Late Show, has been voting in a different congressional district than the one where he lives.

Colbert, who lives at this posh mansion located in Montclair, NJ is a resident of the Tenth Congressional District in New Jersey, a heavily Democrat district that includes the City of Newark and hasnt had a serious contest for Congress in decades.

But Colbert is registered to vote at this shipping and stationery store in Upper Montclair 551 Valley Road, PMB 156 part of the Eleventh Congressional District which is one of the top battleground races of 2018.

As a resident of 77 Upper Mountain Avenue, Colbert lives in Montclairs Ward 2, District 10 and should be voting at Hillside Elementary School on Orange Road.

But instead, he says he resides in Postal Mailbox 156 at 551 Valley Road and has been casting votes at Buzz Aldrin Middle School on Bellevue Avenue.

Online records dont indicate when Colbert registered at the mail drop, but he appears to have been voting in New Jersey for at least 10 years.

But Stephen Colbert isnt the only Colbert to be improperly registered. His wife is also registered at 551 Valley Road and may have been registered there as early as April 4, 2001. She doesnt list a Postal Mailbox number. And again, her registration preceded the redistricting of the town into two congressional districts in 2011.

Gross. Chelsea Handler Gets Naked to Urge Americans to Vote (VIDEO) The Gateway Pundit

The same feminists who complain they are objectified rather than respected for their prowess as cerebral intellectuals by the evil patriarchy are now stripping down naked to urge Americans to vote.

Makes sense.

On Monday, Trump-hating comedienne Chelsea Handler got naked and urged Americans to vote in a video she posted to her social media.

Gross.

You have to vote like your life depends on it! Vote! Chelsea Handler said as she stood in her underwear and covered her bare chest with her hand.

Last week, Democrat women in Vermont participated in a nude photoshoot for a Grab Them by the Ballot campaign.

Stripping down nude to win an election? Democrat women tend to believe thats all it takes.

Protest Song Of The Week: Gun Control By Molly Nilsson Shadowproof

Editors Note

This post was originally published at Ongoing History Of Protest Songs.

Molly Nilsson is a Swedish synth-pop artist, who recently released her eighth studio album. Even though the tunes on the album are more influenced by the personal than the political, the mood of the music is heavily influenced by the current political climate.

This is evident on the opening track Every Night Is New, which refers to a late capitalist night, in pre-apocalypse times.

One of the albums highlights is Gun Control. Many of the lyrics are metaphorical, poetically comparing the human soul to what its like to be punctured by a bullet hole.

Even though it is not a protest song in the traditional sense, the lyrics make powerful statements that resonate in light of current youth-led protest movements.

Why not listen to the youth when you need them?

Why resist to see the future when you see it?

When you know the past is already gone and its already done

Now put your faith in the young!

The increase in youth activism on issues, such as gun violence, renew hope that long-awaited change may be possible.

Nilssons lyrics remind us that it is the youth, who inherit the consequences of the bad decisions of the older generation. It is the current generation that faces the prospect of going to school with the fear of being shot. It is the young that face the prospect that the planet will become inhabitable as a result of adult greed.

With what is at stake, now is the time to finally listen to youthful pleas for change. The status quo based on old corrupt political ideologies has failed miserably. Let the youth inspire us to create something new.

EXCLUSIVE: Bannon: Vote Red, Even for the RINO, Never Trumper Because Dems Promise Trumps Head On A Pike (VIDEO) The Gateway Pundit

Every Trump supporter must vote for the Republican running in their district on Tuesday or the Democrats, who are promising Trumps head on a pike, will win control of the House and the Senate and ultimately impeach the president, predicts former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon.

Even if you have to vote for a RINO or a Never Trumper, vote red, Bannon cautioned in a wide ranging interview with The Gateway Pundit.

Every Trump supporter has to vote, particularly in these key districts for these congressmen. I dont care even if the congressman is a RINO, thats a discussion for a different day. This is a referendum on Trump, he said. That congressman, whether he is a RINO, whether he is a Never Trumper, whether you dont like him, whether you think hes too milquetoast, hes a proxy vote for the Trump presidency.

What the Democrats are doing now is psychological warfare. They are trying to say hey this thing is over, its going to be a blue wave,' Bannon said. Everybody on our side is a big believer in history and they study history. This is historic. This Tuesday is the first reelect of Donald Trump.

Democrats are at an advantage ahead of the midterms, Bannon warned, because its base isnt divided like the establishment and anti-establishment factions of the GOP.

Its still this tension between the grassroots and the establishment ongoing. The Democrats have never had this. They have been promised Trumps head on a pike on Tuesday. The young people the Times Up movement, the Resistance they have been walking districts like the Tea Party. Theyve been walking districts in June and July in the hot heat and humidity, for one thing. Not to work with Donald Trump on prison reform. They have been promised his head on a pike, that he will be impeached. If we hold the House of Representatives, even by one seat they will be just shattered.

If we hold the House, they will turn on each other with a viciousness that weve never seen before. Remember, Jim Hoft, The Breitbart crowd, the Gateway Pundit crowd, weve been at this ant-establishment-establishment civil war for nine years inside the Republican party.

Dan McCready Will Make A Really Terrible Member Of Congress-- But If You Live In NC-09 You Should Probably Vote For Him Anyway DownWithTyranny!

2 dangerous fascists-- Mark Harris and the Pig Man

One of the lesser-of-two-evils races to watch tomorrow is in North Carolina's 9th district, which stretches from Fayetteville to Charlotte and follows the South Carolina border from the Lumberton area into the suburbs south of Charlotte. It's a very red district, with a PVI of R+8 and where Trump beat Hillary 54.4% to 42.8%. It's been over 5 decades since a Democrat represented the area in Congress. But what makes it notable this cycle is that Republican primary voters threw out their mainstream conservative congressman, Robert Pittenger, for a fire-breathing extremist, Mark Harris a Satin-inspired "pastor," who preaches old fashioned misogyny, anti-Semitism, homophobia, hatred and bigotry. In the May 8th primary Harris edged Pittenger 17,302 (48.5%) to 16,474 (46.2%). Meanwhile a very right-wing Democrat, Dan McCready, backed by the Blue Dogs and DCCC, beat a progressive. Were McCready to make it into Congress, he'd be one of the worst Democrats imaginable-- just as Harris would be one of the worst Republicans imaginable. So there you go.

Both candidates say God wants them to win and that they will serve God if they are elected. McCready is a military nut and says he hates politicians. He's one of the least authentic of the DCCC recruits of candidates manufactured out of human sewage this cycle. And yet... Harris is even worse.

Ted Malloch: A Prayer for This Nation in its Hour of Need The Gateway Pundit

Guest post by Ted Malloch, author of Common Sense Business

In the bleak, bitter cold winter of 1777, at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, the encamped troops of General George Washington were gloomy, nearly defeated, and forlorn.

They were in despair and things did not look good for the ragtag, newly created nation.

The revolutionary war was decidedly not going their way.

Night was closing in

Contrary to what is taught in our schools today, the Founding Fathers, to a person, were not secular or atheist in the least.

George Washington, like the overwhelming majority of those Founders, all who signed the Declaration of Independence, were Christians in both principle and practice.

We need to recall and understand that those leaders, who were responsible for the very birth of America, actively practiced the Christian faith.

They had a profoundly theological understanding of hope.

In this, our hour of need, we too should abide in the steadfastness of their faith.

For me, one of the most inspiring and iconic portrayals of American history and patriotism is that of George Washington on his knees in the snow at Valley Forge.

That moving image personifies and testifies to our Founders dependence upon Divine Providence during the darkest hours of our Revolutionary struggle, aptly once said President Ronald Reagan.

The following excerpt was taken from Nathaniel Randolph Snowdens (1770-1851) Diary and Remembrances, who was with the Quaker, Isaac Potts when he recounted where he found General George Washington praying alone in the woods at Valley Forge.

In that woods, pointing to a close in view, I heard a plaintive sound as of a man at prayer. I tied my horse to a sapling & went quietly into the woods & to my astonishment, I saw the great George Washington on his knees alone, with his sword on one side and his cocked hat on the other. He was at Prayer to the God of the Armies, beseeching to interpose with his Divine aid, as it was ye Crisis, & the cause of the country, of humanity & of the world. Such a prayer I never heard from the lips of man. I left him alone praying.

On November 6, of the Year of Our Lord, 2018, our country stands on a similar precipice.

Both of Mississippis Senate Seats Are Up for Election. National Democrats Barely Paid Attention. The Intercept

There are two Senate seats up for grabs in Mississippi on November 6. But thats probably news to you.

Mike Espys candidacy has gotten some national attention largely because hes competing in an exciting three-way jungle primary against establishment Republican candidate Cindy Hyde-Smith, who replaced Thad Cochran on an interim basis when he stepped down in April, and Chris McDaniel, a tea party candidate who has benefited from millions of dollars of independent expenditures from right-wing PACs.

If none of the candidates gets 50 percent of the vote, the top two go into a runoff election, in which Hyde-Smith is heavily favored. Polls from early October showed Espy and Hyde-Smith in a dead heat, but shes been polling about 10 points ahead of Espy since a visit from President Donald Trump, who rallied for her in Mississippi on October 3.

But unlike Espy, who has benefited from high-profile media coverage and visits from national figures like Sen. Cory Booker and former Gov. Deval Patrick, David Barias race against 11-year incumbent Roger Wicker is so under-covered, the title of a recent local news article described the race as the states other Senate campaign.

A double Senate race has only happened 55 times in American history, but the twin Mississippi races still cant break the news cycle. And no wonder.

With 35 Senate seats and 435 House seats hanging in the balance, national focus has understandably been reserved for those races that seem to be most winnable. Its reasonable to be pessimistic about red states, and given the conservative politics of the deep South, its particularly hard to be sanguine about Mississippi.

But Mississippi is not just red. Its black. At 37 percent, no state has a higher proportion of African-American residents  or black senators over time. Of the 10 black senators ever elected in American history, the first two were elected by the Magnolia State both in the decade following the Civil War, before senators were directly elected by voter.

Reconstruction-era politics are an unlikely hook for contemporary Senate chances, but there is a more recent reason to be hopeful: Barack Obama won over 43 percent of Mississippi voters in 2008, the best showing for a Democrat in the modern era since Jimmy Carter won 48 percent of the vote in 1980. For all of the demographic prognosticating about the increasing power of the Hispanic vote and glib democratic posturing about how Afr...

Business Lobbyists, GOP Operatives Plot to Take Down Wave of Ocasio-Cortez-Style Democratic Socialists in Midterms The Intercept

Republican operatives and representatives from Americas largest business groups alarmed at a wave of upset electoral victories by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and other avowed democratic socialist candidates  have been plotting to stem the tide of left-wing Democrats sweeping the country.

Andrew Wynne, an official at the Republican State Leadership Committee, spoke to business lobby leaders in July, encouraging them not to ignore the latest trends within the Democratic Party. He called for Republicans allies to enact a unified plan to defeat progressives in this weeks midterm elections.

Recent elections have proven the leftward shift. An anti-free market, anti-business ideology has taken over the Democratic Party, particularly this year during the primaries.

Recent elections have proven the leftward shift, said Wynne. An anti-free market, anti-business ideology has taken over the Democratic Party, particularly this year during the primaries.

Wynne referred to a series of surprise election upsets over the last year, including the victory by democratic socialist Lee Carter in a competitive Virginia legislative race in November 2017 and primary victories by democratic socialists in several Pennsylvania state Democratic primaries in March of this year.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez captured the energy of these voters to win a congressional nomination in New York, defeating the incumbent who many thought could be the next Democratic speaker of the House, Wynne continued.

He noted that the defeated incumbent in the Ocasio-Cortez race, Rep. Joe Crowley, a moderate Democrat and former chair of the business-friendly New Democrat Coalition, was someone who the business community could have a conversation with on the Democratic side. On the other hand, Wynne warned, Ocasio-Cortez would not be so receptive to business lobbyists.

The July conference call included business lobbyists from state chambers of commerce in Texas, Kentucky, New York, Georgia, and Maryland.

Officials from the Republican State Leadership Committee, which assists Republicans in capturing power on the state level, explained during the call that they expected to raise $45 million in direct contributions and $5 million to $7 million through an allied dark money group for election campaigns this fall.

The group is organized under the IRSs 527 rules and operates in a manner similar to Super PACs: It can raise and spend unlimited amounts from individuals and corporations. The...

JUNIOR COULD CLEAR THE REPUBLICAN FIELD IN A LOT OF RACES, AND THAT'S NOT A COMPLIMENT, GOP VOTERS No More Mister Nice Blog

Most of you will regard this Maggie Haberman story as shameless suckuppery, but I think she's providing an accurate map of Republican voters' pleasure centers:

... Donald Trump Jr. ... has emerged as one of the G.O.P.s most visible headliners in a challenging midterms climate for the party.

... Visits from President Trump have been a double-edged sword for Republican candidates in certain states, who want his backing but who fear blanket media coverage of his controversial statements.

A guest appearance by Donald Trump Jr. has become the next best thing for several candidates, some of whom hes campaigned for repeatedly.... He is scheduled to headline six rallies in five states on Monday.

Why? We think it's impossible to be more ignorant, conspiratorial, or polarizing than Donald Trump Sr., but Junior, in a less visible way, is Dad, only more so.
Mr. Trump [Jr.] has ... attacked news outlets with gusto and amplified conservative memes, including retweeting a conspiratorial thread about the murdered Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi. In recent days, he declared that Senator Angus King, independent from Maine, wants to repopulate Maine with Syrian and Somalian refugees. ...

David Axelrod, a former senior adviser to President Obama and an architect of Mr. Obamas historic win in 2008, described the younger Mr. Trump as hotheaded and even more unrestrained than his dad when it comes to mixing it up.

If Trump Sr. employs a dog whistle, Jr. favors a bullhorn, joyfully transmitting nutty conspiracy theories that even his dad might be hesitant to embrace, Mr. Axelrod added.

... He focuses heavily on amplifying alternatives to established outlets that appeal to his fathers base of support, including some that traffic in misinformation, scrolling through his Twitter feed repeatedly to look at what is being said.
Junior seems to spend more time marinating in the fever swamps than his father, and more than any other Republican with a national profile. Junior doesn't just rely on a Fox News and a few dozen right-wing Twitter accounts, like Dad -- he goes out of his way to seek out extremely dubious information (and disinformation) sources. And while his father often seems to have fun goading his enemies, Junior doesn't seem to be enjoying himself -- he's in it for the grim triumphalism of (allegedly) owning the libs. He's boiled down the rage to its purest form.

Also, with his new ex-Fox News girlfriend, he must seem, to the deplorables, like a...

Hoarse and Lifeless Obama Stumps in Virginia Voice Cracks as He Attacks Trump (VIDEO) The Gateway Pundit

Former President Barack Obama campaigned with Democrats Jennifer Wexton and Tim Kaine in Northern Virginia at the Fairfax campaign office Monday with a very hoarse voice.

Obama seemed lifeless as he droned on spewing Democrat talking points, his voice cracking as he attacked President Trumps policies.

What Im seeing is this great awakening. People who I think had taken for granted that we had made certain stridesSuddenly people woke up and said, Oh, I guess we cant take this for granted. We gotta fight for this, Obama said with a wimper.

A great awakening? Obama must be talking about the red wave, not the blue puddle.

Listen to Obama speak; his voice is hardly recognizable

VIDEO:

Obama even brought donuts to the staff members, saying, Youve been moving, so youre allowed to have a little, little treat.

Watchthis is major cringe

TRUMP APPROVAL at 50% FIVE POINTS HIGHER Than Obama at Same Point in His Presidency The Gateway Pundit

President Trump holds a 50% approval rating the day before the 2018 midterm elections.

This is five points higher than Barack Obama at the same point in his presidency.

This is despite national mainstream media reporting negatively on the highly successful President Trump 92% of the time.

Barack Obama had a cake walk with the media.

They even applauded him.

2018 Senate Election Scorecard DownWithTyranny!

by Gaius Publius

The chart above represents my best guess about the future split of the Senate, using only races that seem contested. Note:

The Senate is currently divided 51-49 in favor of the Republicans, so the Democrats (and the two independents who caucus with them) are down two already.

The column labeled "Change 1" shows a best-case result for Democrats. The column labeled "Change 2" shows a worst case result based on my read of the possibilities and probabilities.

The First Ten Races

Races in the above chart are numbered 1 through 15. The first ten all have clear leaders.

Races 16 are all contests with Democratic incumbents where the Democrat is leading and expected to win, if only by single digits. Though there could be some surprises, they are not widely expected. Let's call those races for the Democrats. Net change: zero.

The next four races, numbered 7 through 10, are more in doubt. They feature two Democratic incumbents and two Republican incumbents. In all four, the Republican is leading. Though things could change, I expect a Republican winner in each of them.

This means that Claire McCaskill and Heidi Heitkamp will lose, and Ted Cruz will keep his seat despite a strong challenge by Beto O'Roarke. Polls in the Texas race range from Tossup to Likely Republican, with Leans Republican the mean result, implying a mid-single-digit win for Cruz. We'll see.

If the predictions for races 110 hold, Democrats have lost two seats already.

Races Considered "Even"

Let's treat the next six races, numbered 11 through 16, as three groups of pairs. All of these races are scored "even" by polling.

In the first pair of "even" races, the outcome is a little more predictable than the others. These feature two Democratic incumbents, Joe Donnelly (IN) and Joe Manchin (WV). If those outcomes are split if Democrats win one and Republicans win the other the Democrats lose another seat, for a net loss of 3.

It appears now that Donnelly will lose and Manchin will win, so I'm counting these outcomes as likely in the best case column (Change 1) for a net no-change on the two races. In the worse case...

Police are investigating after a bomb threat was phoned in to the building next door to where President Trump will be speaking on Monday in Cleveland, Ohio.

A bomb threat was called into Mazzella Lifting Technologies around 8 AM, reported FOX 8 Cleveland.
